Continue with Calgary until your contract expires, then sign with the worst team to offer you a deal.

How'd you get the screencap from the game? EA Sports Highlights?

The only problem with that is before the previous season, I signed a four year contract. So basically, it will be three more years of not much change. I might do a couple more years with Calgary though... This is a tough decision. I do think Tampa would be a more interesting read.

After simulating, I moved certain players over to Calgary in roster moves (from the main menu) and then went into Play Now. Just scored some goals and then took pictures using the Instant Replay Feature. From there, you can save and upload your pictures to the EA Sports website.

Does anyone know how exactly I can download custom rosters and put them into my game? I found a roster with a download link, but I don't know how to do this.

Can I just but the file on a USB and then copy it over onto my Xbox?
Since I will probably be starting a new GM mode, I'd like to have more accurate rosters this time for prospects.

put your usb in your xbox and format it. then put a already downloaded roster on the usb and go to your computer. open usb explorer then go file->open device selector and pick the usb. i forgot exactly where the roster is but i think you can find it. just replace the roster on the usb with your downloaded one after you have found it on usb finder.
i know its not the best tutorial so if you have any problems let me know and ill help you out.

You have to do more than that. You have to modify the downloaded roster's contents. Each roster save file has your Xbox ID and profile ID attached to it, so the roster you downloaded would have the Xbox ID and profile ID of the person who created the roster, not yours, which means that when you load it on your xbox, it won't work. You need a third party program which allows you to modify those two entries of the downloaded roster to match those from the roster you extracted from your game in order to properly upload them into the game. If you google it, there's a tutorial with pictures on operationsports.com.

Canucks Quiet At Deadline
March 7, 2013

The Canucks made absolutely no moves today or leading up to the trade deadline, a vote of confidence from GM Mackenzie to his squad. "The team is rolling right now. We're winning games, we're looking good. Why mess with success?" GM Mackenzie continued, "Plus when every offer you get involves a key player or Winnipeg's first round pick, which looks like it will be a lottery pick, it's hard to even consider those offers."

The Canucks organization and fans alike are ecstatic about the potential lottery pick, which was acquired about 13 months ago alongside Devan Dubnyk in a trade that saw the Canucks give up goaltenders Jose Theodore, Dwayne Roloson, and their 2012 1st and 3rd round picks. The Canucks surely got the better end of that deal in hindsight with Dubnyk leading the league in wins, Winnipeg currently with the second worst record in the NHL, and the Canucks finding their way to the Stanley Cup Final last year, leaving Winnipeg with the 29th and 89th overall picks.

The Canucks headed into the trade deadline with a 39-25-4 record, good for 3rd in the Western Conference. Sidney Crosby and Nicklas Backstrom are both in the hunt for the Maurice Richard trophy, with Crosby currently sitting in 3rd place and Backstrom in 9th. Martin St Louis is 4th in assists and Crosby is 8th. Crosby is 3rd in the Art Ross trophy race behind Daniel Sedin and Evgeni Malkin while St Louis is currently in 8th. Devan Dubnyk leads the league in wins, although it's unlikely that he will be considered for any awards considering his 89.8 SV% and 2.70 GAA.

As for what actually happened at the trade deadline ...

Trade deadline summary:

To CHI: 2014 2nd Round Pick
To NYI: C Connor Jarvis, 2014 2nd Round Pick

To EDM: LD Pavel Valentenko, RW Chris Lawrence
To OTT: C Martin St Pierre, LD Nathan Oystrick

To TBL: RD Bruno Gervais, C Ryan Stoa, C Nick Tarnasky
To LAK: C Brian Boyle, LD Andrew Alberts, 2013 1st Round Pick

To MIN: LD Aaron Johnson, RW Francis Pare
To TBL: C Derek Mackenzie, RD Matt Pelech

Alright, I'm way too lazy to download new rosters. It's too complicated.

I'm going to switch over to a GM mode with Tampa Bay now. I'll go until I win a cup, like I did with Calgary. I'm going to use my own rosters and I will edit some prospects like Lofthouse to make them worse and of course make prospects like Mackinnon and Jones better. I'll make sure all the big free agents signings and offseason trades are done as well.

I've got a few questions though. I'll create Andrey Vasilevskiy myself and put him in the minors. How should I rate him and how good should his potential be?

Also, I don't think I can move Slater Koekkoek onto Tampa Bay because of his age. Is there anyway I can solve this? I'm thinking I'll just create an alternate version of him and put him in the minors and make sure that the real Koekkoek doesn't get drafted. Again, how should I rate him and how good should his potential be?

Lastly, if anyone has a list of top prospects and what their ratings/potential should be, please send me a PM.

COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS - YEAR 1 REPORT

The Columbus Blue Jackets once again fell short of the playoffs this year, finishing with a 40-36-6 record. What makes this year different from other years in C-Bus, is the fact that the fans aren't actually very disappointed with the team. The Blue Jackets 40 wins are 1 off the team record of 41, set in the team's only playoff appearance in the 08-09 season. The fans are also excited about the teams all star lineup that GM hockey17jp was able to put together over the course of the year. The new GM acquired the Colorado Avalanche's 3 best players in 2 trades, trading Antoine Vermette and a pick for Matt Duchene, followed by Kristian Huselius and disappointing center Derick Brassard for Paul Stastny and Peter Mueller. He then looked to the free agent market to sign veteran defensemen Scott Hannan, and former Conn Smythe trophy winner J.S. Giguere. However perhaps the biggest moment of the year came when hockey17jp traded Jeff Carter and a 2013 1st round pick to Boston for 20 year old Tyler Seguin, who had missed most of the season due to injury. The teams stats weren't all that bad either, here's the Top 5 below.

1. Rick Nash - 29 - 48 - 77
2. Paul Stastny - 26 - 47 - 73
3. R.J. Umberger - 29 - 39 - 68
4. Matt Duchene - 26 -33 - 59
5. Peter Mueller - 21 - 22 - 43

R.J. Umberger lead in goals with 29, while Rick Nash lead in assists with 48 and also in points with 77.

The team is looking good in the prospects category with players like Boone Jenner and Dougie Hamilton, and it's almost certain they will pick Nail Yakupov in this years draft.

Here's last years lines to compare to what happens this season.

Umberger (84) - Stastny (87) - Nash (89)
Mueller (84) - Duchene (87) - Upshall (82)
Dupuis (82) - Seguin (81) - Dorsett (79)
Moreau (79) - Pahlsson (83) - Artyukhin (81)

This should be fun to see what happens with the Jackets.

DUCKS FIRE GM TOM RENNEY

After three years, and non fulfilled promises made by general manager Tom Renney, the Ducks organization has decided to not renew him a new contract. Its a crying shame that it had to come to this, because many fans despite only making the playoffs once, are very happy with the way their team is panning out. Nail Yakupov had a record season recording 62 points and 34 goals.

Another player who stood out this season was d-man Cam Fowler who broke his goal scoring record with a total of 15 this year, and 46 points. Fowler has had over 40 points over the last four season.

'I really feel I built a team that will be contending very soon. Its too bad the owners don't feel the same way... But life goes on.' - Tom Renney

Tom Renney actually wasted no time before finding a new home in New Jersey. Its been said that he signed a six year contract with the Devils, after they sent Lou Lamoriello packing. After the retirement of goaltender Martin Brodeur, the Devils have yet to make a playoff appearance in two years. Last season they finished 11th in the east with 84 points, eight points shy from the 8th seeded New York Islanders.

Aw man, I was hoping you wouldn't get fired. Have fun with New Jersey.

I might start Tampa Bay later today. But again, I have no idea how I should rate Andrey Vasilevskiy, anyone have an idea on how his potential should be?

As for Andrey... Not sure. http://www.mynhldraft.com/2012/NHL-Draft-Profiles/Andrei-Vasilevski

It says there his comparable is Carey Price... But I can't seem to find actual ratings for him for NHL 12... sorry man.

I don't think he's in NHL 12, I'll have to make him. Judging by what I read on that page, I'll probably make him around 73-75 with B,B,B potential.

Coyotes Decimated In Game 1
April 18, 2013

If this series ends up going the way it did last night, this is going to be a short series. The Canucks absolutely dominated in all areas of the ice, winning an extremely lopsided 7-1 in their opening playoff game at home. Andy McDonald opened the scoring on the first shift of the game, snapping home a wrist shot that snuck through goaltender Antti Niemi. David Liffiton would tie it up shortly after as his slap shot delected off Canucks center Scott Nichol and in, but Vancouver answered immediately with Marty Reasoner deflecting a Dan Boyle shot past Niemi on a delayed penalty call. The Canucks took a 3-1 lead into the first intermission after Sidney Crosby banged home a rebound late in the period.

It was all downhill from there, as the Canucks peppered San Jose, outshooting them 31-6 over the next 2 periods for a final shot total of 40-17 and adding another 4 goals. When it was all said and done, Andy McDonald had 4 points, Martin St Louis and Dan Boyle had 3 a piece, and about half the team had a single point.

Canucks Hammer Coyotes Again; Take 2-0 Series Lead
April 20, 2013

The Canucks jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first 5 minutes of last night's game and never looked back, despite getting into penalty trouble often. Sidney Crosby opened the scoring on the first shift and was quickly followed up with goals from Jaromir Jagr and Kevin Bieksa. The Canucks went on to kill off all 6 Phoenix power plays en route to a 5-2 victory despite being outshot 34-22. Phoenix goaltender Antti Niemi was pulled for the second game in a row and now sports a 6.38 GAA and 80.0 SV% over the first two games of the playoffs.

Phoenix did get some good news today, however, as Ron Hainsey was cleared to play for game 3 in Glendale. He will replace David Liffiton and play on a pairing with Keith Ballard.

Canucks Take Game 3, 3-0 Series Lead
April 22, 2013

The Canucks look poised to sweep the first round against the Phoenix Coyotes after winning a tight-checking battle last night that saw the two teams combine for just 39 shots. Martin St Louis and Andy McDonald were once again the driving force of the Canucks' offense as they won 3-1 with an empty net goal from Filip Kuba. The duo has combined for 6 goals and 9 assists through 3 games.

Dan Boyle went down with a hamstring injury at the end of the second period and is not expected to be in the line-up tomorrow night. The coaching staff informed us that it is not a season-ending injury.

Tampa Bay Lighting Hire New GM Deku Scrub

It took the whole offseason, but the Tampa Bay Lightning have finally found the man they believe they are looking for. The organization has hired veteran general manager Deku Scrub. Reportedly, the organization is expecting 44 wins out of the squad this year. However, this seems kind of crazy as the general public believes that the Bolts are in a rebuilding state.

Nonetheless, led by young superstar Steven Stamkos, the team hopes to capture the Southeast Division title again. They're off to a good start so far, after winning their first game of the season. Vincent Lecavalier scored the game-winning overtime goal as the Bolts won 3-2 over the Hurricanes.

2011-12 Regular Season Lineup

Brett Connolly - Steven Stamkos - Martin St Louis
Ryan Malone - Vincent Lecavalier - Teddy Purcell
Matt Schoblocher - Nate Thompson - Ryan Shannon
Adam Hall - Dana Tyrell - Tommy Pyatt

Eric Brewer - Victor Hedman
Matt Carle - Matthias Ohlund
Brett Clark - Marc-Andre Bergeron
