In all honesty, I’d be pretty mad if that happened

What do I know, but is Tkachuk really a Quinn type of player? Look at the Ds that have thrived under him. Clayton Keller.

Jonathan Berggren is a Quinn type of forward. Joel Farabee. I am sure Kotkaniemi would be a great fit. And so forth.

Q -When the NTDP U18s visited last season, it was reported that they “loved BU’s style of play” What do you think they meant and why might they feel that way?
A- Hopefully the word spreads. That’s never a bad thing to have people say that, especially the national program, which is the age of players we’re recruiting. One of the things we stress is a puck-possession game. There are times you have to chip a puck in, but that’s not the way we want to play. We kick loose pucks in the neutral zone back to our defense so they can possess it and enter the zone with speed. A lot of teams will post a guy at the blue line and have him chip it in and go get it. That’s not how we want to play. We want to carry the puck into the offensive zone and attack with speed. We need our defensemen to be involved in the attack; so, it’s something we’re constantly stressing.

true...but the drawn out timeline and tidbits leaked about the process would indicate there was never a "target" candidate, and clearly nobody they've spoken to to date has blown them away. reading between the lines i think it seems very much like theres no conviction in any potential directions...hence the mccambridge suggestion that offers a guy thats earned one a chance and the organization some continuity for the young guys they want to develop.

I think you’re still drawing too many conclusions from too little information. It is not clear that no one has blown them away. For all we know, multiple candidates have done so.

I don’t even know what lines you’re reading between.

Sullivan with Crosby and Malkin or Sullivan without Crosby and Malkin?
Took them four coaches to get a coach who can maximize Crosby and Malkin’s talent.

He’s clearly a top tier coach in this league, great roster or no.

But, I was speaking more to his attitude and demeanor than anything. Sullivan enstills a tough, hard working culture, much like his buddy Torts. I feel Quinn will do the same.

I'm readying my popcorn for when the Rangers don't hire Keefe.

Feels like 95% of NYR social media is on the "Keefe is the only good option" train and will deem any other coaching hire as bad.

Friedman was just on NHL Network. Said things are heating up with Quinn, they're talking and contract is being discussed. Nothing is finalized or done but it sure sounds like Quinn is the guy.

I wonder who is going to be the next assistant coach that everyone hates for little reason. I can't wait to find out.

Terrier Hockey Fan Blog II: Q&A With Head Coach David Quinn

I like his general approach, nice to see the national program too because they are battled tested against a lot of different styles and phiosopys and can't get by using outdated stuff.

You can see how this is Charlie McAvoy hockey. I like that. Not sure if we have the Ds for it though. Shatty is so immobile for a system like this. TDA a little jumpy. Pionk will fit in extremely well. Skjei should do alright.
Posted this a while back about how I liked BU’s style when I watched them. Bob Murray was lamenting after the Ducks got knocked out this year about the need to play with speed. The drop back and regroup approach has obviously been done in Europe for a while, but it’s trickled slowly into US hockey over the past few years. It’s essential if you want to play with speed and attack in waves and defend well.

I’m still iffy about Quinn because I thought his teams underperformed relative to their talent level, but they still played very well when I watched them. I don’t think he’d be the end-game coach, but he’s definitely help move us in the right direction.

Every single team’s fanbase hates at least one assistant coach.

I mean, I peruse other teams boards pretty frequently and I see it all the time. f***, even Arniel was a popular target here.

I'm excited, love that we're going the college route and emphasizing development.

This is my big concern with Quinn as well, but at the same time I’ve kind of maintained that I’m not expecting them to be all that competitive for another year or two or three, so maybe it’s not that big of a deal relative to my expectations

As I mentioned a couple weeks ago, it was gonna be Quinn and one other

Quinn screams Gorton hire. Keefe would have been nice but Quinn is a good one

Quinn with Keefe and MSL as assistants

*Gorton drops mic*
I want St Louis so bad

I think he will be back in some form in the next two seasons.

The fact that they essentially handed him the wolf pack after he retired seems to point to the front office wanting badly as well

Im just happy its not going to be some old tired rehire. I like the fresh outlook that Gorton wants to go with as it seems right now.

I agree. For some reason I see him as potentially being a very, very good coach down the road.

Well seeing as how he recruited him to BU, it seems like he thinks so.
