Really all in on this fresh blood thing, eh... I guess we'll see how this goes.

Anyone watch a lot of BU? Rundown of this guy's system?
Terrier Hockey Fan Blog II: Q&A With Head Coach David Quinn

Old article, but there is some nice things to read in here.

One of the things we stress is a puck-possession game. There are times you have to chip a puck in, but that’s not the way we want to play. We kick loose pucks in the neutral zone back to our defense so they can possess it and enter the zone with speed. A lot of teams will post a guy at the blue line and have him chip it in and go get it. That’s not how we want to play. We want to carry the puck into the offensive zone and attack with speed. We need our defensemen to be involved in the attack; so, it’s something we’re constantly stressing.

He'll probably be better than Prometheus, so there is that.

Don't know much about him but I'm glad we didn't hire a coach with plenty of NHL experience who would rely too much on veterans and have less experience with young developing players. He also seems very passionate, has a strong presence & a motivational aura to him. Complete opposite of AV

The complaint about Quinn has always been that his actual coaching is lacking...which should be a concern. He'll have to prove he can gameplan and not get destroyed by other coaches all the time.
As a rookie NHL coach, sure he's going to get taken to school by guys with experience, but if that was the complaint on him in college then he's going to have to do better

I have a feeling that head coaching interviews in the NHL heavily rely on gameplanning.

Not too concerned about it.

You should read some of the stuff I posted last page on him

Guy was set for the NHL but developed a debilitating disease during college and wasn't able to play. Tried to make a comeback but wasn't able. Only contract he ever signed for the NHL was one with the Rangers. He played for our AHL team.

Makes sense to get a guy like Quinn to bring along a very young team. I've always felt his in game decision making lacked a bit, kinda like AV unfortunately, but it's more important right now to have a guy who can manage the room from game to game and develop the players with the right kind of attitude.

I think you’re still drawing too many conclusions from too little information. It is not clear that no one has blown them away. For all we know, multiple candidates have done so.

I don’t even know what lines you’re reading between.

not a ton has leaked but theres enough signals from enough people in the know (ie mckenzie, friedman, even jg himself - although he has a vested interest in making his thoughts opaque) to say its pretty obvious this is an open ended search. when you interview for a position and find a candidate you are blown away by, you move immediately to bring that person aboard. taking in a broad horizon and practicing due diligence is an advisable track, but in the real world when you know, you know, and you act. thats how i know we havent been blown away by anyone.

the one name that keeps reappearing is quinn who i don't love as a candidate personally, but i do trust jg and would support that hire just based on that.

Yep. I think it’s still key to remember that it’s pretty unlikely that anyone we hire is winning a Cup here. That would be the next guy.

“Reading between the lines” would tell you that the Rangers seem to have been impressed by Montgomery, Keefe and Quinn. Who knows who else?

And as someone who has hired many people, experience says that being blown away in an interview isn’t a good reason to stop doing due diligence in an open ended process.

We're gonna f***ing trade for Greenway now, aren't we.

Would Sacco leave the Bruins for the Rangers? Not like it’s promotion if he’s an assistant to Quinn

Maybe he is super loyal to Gorton though
