Mechanical watches are less accurate than quartz and significantly more difficult (read: expensive) to maintain. *All* premium watches are about buying status.
I mean this isn't really true at all, plenty of mechanical watches are nowhere near the cost of a Rolex and have *zero* status, and yet plenty of people buy them because they appreciate the craftsmanship aspect of it. Also, I would consider it to be extremely risky as an investment vehicle but plenty of people have bought them for that reason too.

The median income for my home county where I was born, is 22,760. (Buchanan co Va) Household is like 37K. That poverty level is a joke. People back home are poor as dirt. But I guess too be "poverty" you need to be on services or have a shithouse instead of an actual bathroom.
To be below the poverty level you need to have no "claimable income", work inder the table, have a 60,000 plus car and live in substadized housing.

One nice thing about best on best we've missed for the last decade is the guys from smaller markets who can finally get their due from the hockey media on big stages.
Funny I checked around other teams boards and almost universally they all noted Slavins great play.

Exception was Rags board in which a very prominent poster suggested Slavin is not a 1D and he generally crapped on Slavin’s game.

Which goes to show you that it’s impossible to get everyone on board on any individual issue.

From The Denver Post: mostly quotes from his current and past peers

Trade still consumes Mikko Rantanen’s world, but the former Avalanche star is trying to move on Rantanen’s media day at the 4 Nations was very different than his peers, two weeks after the blockbuster deal

Rantanen’s world has been upended. He joined the Hurricanes during a road trip. Carolina has played seven games since the trade, but Rantanen missed one with a minor injury.

He does have an apartment now in Raleigh but hasn’t spent much time there.

“I think it’s only been two weeks, so I think it’s too quick to get settled after a long time in the other place,” Rantanen said. “We were on the road a little bit, so many games. I was just focused on the games. I think it’s going to take some time, for sure.”

Most of the above seems to jive with the eye test although as you note the stats for Jarvis and Blake are fantastic. A few guys on the team rank poorly in 5v5 D with Burns a big callout since that's his role (no surprise re: Necas-wow @ his low mark but Aho & Svetch surprised me).
