...time to moan and groan that they went ahead and settled this while 90% of the people following it are in bed snoring right now

Never been so mad to be woken up at 5:45AM via text message.

Never been so happy to read said text.

The lockout is over. Let's go Devils.

Been watching for 10 minutes and the ticker hasn't mentioned anything.

ESPN ticker has nothing either.

Now time to worry about the essentials! Will the goons play every night? Will Tedenby prove to be an NHL player? Does the CBGB line stay together? What happens until Henrique gets back? Can our defense outscore the Isles, and CBJ this year? Can we outscore them period? Is our PK as incompetent as it was in the playoffs? Does our PP get better FINALLY? How many games does Marty start? Will Marty take the whole season to get into the form we saw him in from all star break through the playoffs last year? Do we roll we 8 defensemen? Or make a trade? Does Scott Parse make the team over Bobby Butler LOL?

All of this, and more to be answered soon!

:yo:

Couple of other things...

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun
Further to @aaronward_nhl reporting Year 2 cap at $64.3 M, I can add that Year 2 floor will be $44 M

Nick Kypreos ‏@RealKyper
Sources say new #NHL #CBA deal includes a contract variance of 35% year to year.

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC
On variance, lowest-paid season of any multi year deal can be no lower than 50 per cent of highest season

Renaud Lavoie ‏@RenLavoieRDS
2 amnesty buy outs per team before season 2013-14. Won't count on the cap but on players share.

Renaud Lavoie ‏@RenLavoieRDS
Pension fond deal is what the players are proud of. It will be base on what players have in the MLB.

Do we see the godawful pairing of Tallinder/Fayne this year?

Sorry this computer wouldn't let me edit my last post so I couldn't include that in there!

More CBA details courtesy of the hockey media on twitter:

Elliotte Friedman ‏@FriedgeHNIC
Salary arbitration walkaways: cannot happen unless player award is at least $3.5 million, indexed to increase every year at rate salaries do

Darren Dreger Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
Confirming revenue sharing will spread $200 million. Additionally, $60 mil PA initiated growth fund also included.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
Sup discipline: Shanahan 1st, appeal with Bettman 2nd. For 6 or more games neutral third party will decide if necessary.

Darren Dreger Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
Decision on 2014 Oly's will be made outside CBA. Likely NHL will participate. IIHF and IOC discussions to come with league and PA.

Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger
Draft lottery will change. All 14 teams fully eligible for 1st pick overall. Weighting system may remain, but 4-move restriction out.

Credit where credit is due, the hockey reporters have been pulling some crazy hours. TG's coverage has also been excellent throughout this ordeal - he has been re-tweeted often by his colleagues.

I actually had the best night of sleep I had in weeks...just woke up like fifteen minutes ago

I did have a feeling this would either be done late last night or sometime today by the time I went to bed last night, for the first time it finally felt like 'when', not if the lockout would end. Glad I was able to wake up to this.

Thank you Mr. Beckenbaugh.

It just seems kind of backwards. Why not wait until you see what he does against NHLers?

It would be like Lou coming out next year before camp and saying "Merrill will be on our 1st pairing and 1st PP QB."

It's the Wild, they do things a little differently there and it's part of the reason they haven't had success lately.

Wouldn't it be funny if Heatley got bought out. Give him a call then zachy

That would be hilarious. Zach asks him if they can win, he says yes, and then he gets bought out by the club six months later.

WOO HOO! Lockout over folks!

Some details I'm seeing on twitter:

CBA length is 10 years with 8 year opt out
Contract limit is 7 years; 8 years if re-signing own player
$64.3m cap in 2013-2014

All of that seems pretty reasonable. I'm glad there's nothing crazy in there yet.

Gotta say, the NHL Network is an absolute joke. Some canned programming as usual instead of any coverage of the lockout's end.

Anyway, Lets Go Devils!

Those guys are getting some well deserved sleep. I DON'T NEED NO STINKING PRESS CONFERENCE> Hockey is back on I don't want to see Bettman until you know when.

Probably later today or tomorrow they'll finalize the schedule. Supposedly 'if' it's a 48-game schedule we'll be in Winnipeg on the 19th, but could be a 50-game schedule at this point.

Cool.

Everything in the CBA looks pretty standard, nothing stood out particularly. So like everyone guessed in September, it is essentially the middle of everything they discussed minus pensions. Good thing it took til January.

I wonder how long before the NHL Network schedule changes to reflect 'current' programming (like previews, NHL news during all the transactions, etc)?
