I do like the synochrity of the 16-team, 16-win tournament, but let's be honest it's only been 16 wins for like twenty years of the NHL's history. There's a reason Wing fans throw octipii on the ice, it was 8 wins for many years.

I know it wasn't always 16 wins, but I think we can all agree that the playoffs are pretty good as they are right now. They lucked into something that works, leave it alone. Don't screw with the best playoffs in NA sports.

I love that the fiscal cliff is going to be solved before the NHL lockout.

Pretty pathetic that Democrats and Republicans are better at putting their differences aside and working together than Bettman and Fehr are.

Well the fiscal cliff's a little more important to the future of the country than the NHL lol

US Congress has had several years to try and solve fiscal cliff (Nothing was done),, NHLPA wouldn't talk about CBA until late summer

Well if the season starts on the 19th, the Devils would be opening up on the road. Disney on ice is at the Rock from the 17th to the 21st

Fine by me, gives us more time to get our tickets and plan going to games.

I won't be buying tickets so it's all the same to me.

:thumbu:

ideally, every team’s first home back would be 95% empty. a message needs to be sent to the owners and players that this lockout was inexcusable, and the next time it happens we won’t be back.

unfortunately, this will never ever happen. but good for you, for sticking it to those ********.

good joke.

you know you will once the season gets rolling. we all will. those who care enough to waste time on a message board posting about the team are the FIRST ones that will be buying tickets.

I definitely think that some people go overboard with renouncing their fandom, however I think there will be a drop.

I think this lockout has slightly muted some fans. I'll still watch, and still go to games, but I've learned that I can get along without the NHL in my life.

I am sure there will be a handful. there always is.

and yea, you can get along without it, because it isn't there right now. what happens when it IS there? will you go out of your way not to watch it? I doubt it.

but people like us that post on hockey message boards all day will be back. whether its right away or a few months into it, we will be back. I am sure the NHL lost tons of casual fans with this, but the die hards like us will be back.

Can't wait for this to get settled so we can start complaining about the fact that Parise, Ponikarovsky, and Sykora are gone and Henrique is injured and Tedenby, Butler, and Barch are the replacements.
