The extra playoff teams thing I saw floated was going to be a 1 year only thing, just in case anyone thought it was going to be a permanent feature.
"We're going to find out how bad the NHL wants a season," said a union source.

That makes it even worse
Oy vey.
That just sounds like the Players will try and get every last bit out of the Owners
If they push too hard though the owners'll dare them to go to court.

The Devils need to seriously consider sitting Brodeur. In the last 2.5 seasons he is 2007th out of 2000 goaltenders!
Wait there's no season yet!
What's this thing about the union source saying they wanna see if the owners really wanna play a season or not? What don't they like this team? Is it the salary cap being too low?
Or are they just busting balls?

What is the point of these one year gimmicks? Are they trying to make this year MORE of a clown show?

ICYMI, Jon Miller, president of programming for NBC Sports Network, told The Boston Globe this week: “We never had any indication (1)
with the NHL was going to last until January. It was always our understanding that this was going to be a tweak and a fix." (2)
Guys who were undrafted UFAs tend to be more "loyal" to the teams that gave them a shot.
Andy Greene definitely proved he wanted to stay, and said he took a discount to stay with the Devils. That was awesome of him, and he was an undrafted player. Aside from the fact he's awesome I would never wanna trade him just because of that. That was a nice gesture him staying. Especially after the teams worst season in 20 years, and all the uncertainty with not knowing who would be coach or what direction the team would move in at the time he re signed.
Oy vey.
The players were happy to get an offer Thursday, but they weren't completely pleased it was almost 300 pages, accompanied by a drop-dead date of Jan. 11 to get a deal in place and the season starting on Jan. 19.
