Kind of feel bad for NBC. Loyalty (through both NBC and Comcast) over the years after ESPN wasn't willing to let the NHL back in after the last lockout, and then even when NBC wanted to show SOME hockey by broadcasting the Atlantic City charity game, the NHL even slammed the door on that.

NBC has done a great job really pushing hockey over the last few years (hell can anyone name a non-hockey related show on NBC Sports Network). I can't help but feel they're getting the shaft.

I just noticed that Jacobs has a really good reason to keep this lockout going.

The Bruins have $57 million committed to next season, with no goalies signed and seven roster spots to fill.

What comes first, fiscal cliff deal or lockout agreement?

Right now the fiscal cliff seems to be in the lead. Then again there's a little bit more at stake there too besides the viability of a professional hockey league.

Just told NHLPA never considered or even discussed asking owners for a share of future expansion or relocation money.

Phew.

I thought it was kinda weird such an unflattering detail about the NHLPA proposal went public before they even gave it to the owners. Usually it's the more flattering details that get leaked first.

NBC had Duke-Louisville basketball on that night. Doubt they had any trueminterest in airing that charity game

NBC has other channels, they could have shown it on CNBC, MSNBC, whatever.

I do hope the pressure by sponsors, network execs, etc has gotten through to the league. Between them ****ing off NBC, their own COO and who knows what other sponsors and perhaps even many owners, the outside pressure might finally be reaching critical mass on Bettman.

So it's not true hopefully?

I was gonna see here's a classic example of Fehr playing more games.

call me crazy but maybe just maybe the PA put together a realistic offer, maybe?

edit: Kypreos and few other guys are reporting no major changes.

maybe getting optimistic but we have to be close, c'mon.

Kyper wasn't exactly clear whether he meant no major changes to the PA's prior offer, or no major changes countering the NHL's offer. Pretty big difference.

yeah he makes it seem like the PA's last offer

Which isn't a shock...the PA's not going to move until next week. I guess that $100 million 'bribe' wasn't good enough for them to alter their last-minute plan :shakehead

Happy New Year, all. And happy for the fans and my pals in the biz that the NHL should be playing within 3 weeks.
