Obviously he meant add those six years on top of the six years of sucking we 'already' had. His point was having a Columbus/Atlanta length dark days stretch probably would have signaled doom for us in NJ before we ever had a 1995. We were kind of fortunate we had a good playoff run in '88 after only a few years in the state, and then were a perennial playoff team after that though the next big run wasn't till '94.

Exactly what I meant.

We were awful for something like 12 of our 13 first seasons. Tack on 6 years to that, and it's almost 20 years of being a bad hockey team. That's not going to sustain a fan base.

NY had 3 teams. Yanks,Giants and Dodgers. Mets came later I think, though I am far from a baseball fan.
I think Quebec City should have a team,no doubt. Seattle is a good sports area and growing city.

Forget Hartford and KC.

Dont forget there was also major Negro League teams in NY and Chi as well

New York Black Yankees (36-48)
Chicago American Giants (20-51)

This just in:

This exchange isn't as bad as it sounds really. I give props to Kaleta though the most aggravating thing to see (specfically when we are losing or play flat) is when I look down the bench and barely nobody on the Devils is showing emotion. It ****ing pisses me off. Kovalchuk, Elias, Zidlicky, Larsson etc. they all look so "everythings good" sometimes.

It kills me when I see that and its hard to watch. Throw a clean hit or mix things up ya know? I like that Henrique and guys like Bernier do it. This also brings up another thing...Kovalchuk only hits when he is uber pissed. He is a tank it shouldn't come to the point where he is totally, completely, 110% pissed off to throw the god damn body. Same with Fayne and Zajac. TAKE THE BODY AND SHOW SOME GOD DAMN SNARL!! If somebody snows our goalie teach them a lesson don't just push them away and skate away. I think we get that reputation sometimes from opposing players, guys like Zidlicky, Larsson, Elias, etc. aren't going to our crazy after the whistle so other players take advantage and push the limits, cut through the crease more often, snow our goalie more often, etc.

More often than not, getting too wrapped up emotionally has cost the team more than it's really helped. They're best when they're 100% focused.

Hits are overrated, in my opinion. A good hit can set the tone every now and then, and sometimes its necessary.

Some guys can play with an edge, and they're highly valued for a reason. Most players get themselves out of position to do anything positive by looking to shake things up.

Just look at the difference between Clarkson's game, when he's looking for goals and when he's looking for hits.
Rarely do you see Kovy do too much when he's been rattled.

Bernier can do it, he plays best with an edge. Henrique has had a couple of big F-U goals, much the way Elias has had over the course of his career.

There aren't many players on the team I like out on the ice with a chip on their shoulder.

I thought they couldn't afford Perry and Getzlaf and had to trade Perry :sarcasm:

RT @AnaheimDucks: BREAKING: Ducks agree to terms with Corey Perry on eight-year contract extension. http://*******/11ccV4R

NHL Network reported the terms of the Perry deal are the same as the Getzlaf deal. That's eight years, $66 million.

Same deal as Getzlaf.... Anaheim might actually be a cap team for seasons to come.

He'll be the odd man out I think...especially if Clowe makes it to UFA. I believe Swede when he says Lou really likes him and has been trying to get him a while.

That'd be a huge mistake, in my opinion.
Zubrus is a big part of the team's identity.
Let Clowe replace Poni, not Zubrus.

But... I'm not a GM, so :dunno:

That's 17 millish for 2 players. Even if they are a cap team that is going to be incredibly tough to field a squad.

We'll take Ryan.
