I would love Burmistrov but it's a pipe dream. (then again, I would have said the same thing about Kovalchuk)

I think Florida is going to want to hang on to Fleischmann with Weiss likely leaving.

Bettman on Phoenix: "a number of groups in process with us"

AKA "I'll do just about everything to keep that team in Phoenix, so I won't look like a idiot for moving to a city where hockey is probably the 10th most important sport right after PBA bowling and mini put".

The phoenix situation is a debacle. Move them out of there please
Any fans left are on their last string considering they have been jerked around for 4 years.

Hoping Seattle gets a team if Phoenix folds. I don't see the NHL giving Canada another team again.

NHL wont fold a team

A team hasn't been folded in major NA sport since the Barons

Its terrible press for league and hurts league in future talks for stadiums with cities

I would not be shocked if Portland/Seattle get expansion teams while Pho moves to KC in a few years

Would balance out conferences 16 West/Central teams vs 16 Eastern teams

Marc Staal is good but he's not a #1 defenseman like I've seen him called. He's better then Volchenkov, I'm not biased the Rangers are my pick for the Cup unfortunately.

When the NHL ultimately goes to 32 it would be amazing if the 2 new teams were Seattle and Portland. Those two cities with Vancouver have a great rivalry in MLS and would spill over well. Of course it's only a pipe dream.

If their crowds are going to be similar to Seahawks`/Trail Blazers` crowds, I`m all for it.

Apparently the Kings are going to go hard after Iginla and they might dangle Bernier+ to land him... according to LeBrun and McKenzie

Problem with KC and Portland is ownership and there being a lack of an interested party to put teams in the building. Seattle and QBC don't seem to have that problem. Of course moving Phoenix to Seattle means that you still need 1 more city for expansion.

Not sure if it was posted earlier, but Buffalo sent Mikhail Grigorenko back to juniors. Reading through the main board thread and apparently he burns a year off his ELC but this season doesn't start his free agency clock since he played fewer than 23 games. Lou/Pete said that Matteau's play would be the primary reason he's kept up and not his contract, but it'll be interesting to see if Matteau reaches that barrier.

Seattle is a great sports city. Don't the Sounders have the best attendance figures in the MLS? The Seahawks are known for having the toughest stadium to play in. The city is still pissed and puzzles about the Sonics move to OK City.

The Mariners are an exception because they have refused to put forth a good product since Griffey left.

Last year the Sounders averaged nearly 44k per game and set an MLS record with something like 68k or 69k in a game.

From the way it's looking right now he's the odd man out once Zubrus comes back. That probably won't be for another few weeks though. I still maintain he would have been sent down if not for Zubrus's injury. I think he was going back that week or the next. They shut him down immediately after 5 games so you can't say it wasn't considered.
