He scored a very nice goal, similar to this one, against the Habs yesterday too.

What the hell is he doing? The Panthers play like **** and the guy has 5 points in 4 games. And from what I`ve heard, it`s not just the points.

He looks 37 for sure. Not every bald guy looks older than they are, but he just looks way older than that. I can't think of what he looked like when he came into the league. I dread going bald too. I have more hair than most of the males did in my family at my age! I hope it's gonna stay!

Yeah I hear you. I'm 29 and have a pretty bad bald spot. My cousin on the other hand is 43 and still has hair down to his ass almost. That said, I've always thought that many athletes (hockey players especially) tend to look anywhere from around 5 to 10 years older than they really are (and did especially in the 90's and early 2000's. Now, at least in my opinion players coming in to the league tend to look more or less their age). I don't think it usually has anything to do with it being a rough sport. It's just their face complexion (or in Getzlaf's case the balding)

Not that it makes Zajacs's contract any better but it really puts in prospective the new contracts in this CBA.

I now wonder what happens now to the mid-tier guys that aren't stars nor bottom 6ers. It will be interesting to see if in the next few years, these guys taking less to stay on a winning team while stars are now making 8+ annually on the cap.

Ya, Zajac's contract will start to look more and more reasonable as more top tier guys start signing these monster cap hit deals.

to be fair, that was Ondrej Pavelec.
I think Pavelec is pretty good. I thought we legit had a couple sure goals that were stopped by him yesterday, and I don't say that much when we're making whatever garbage goalies look like Hasek. The biggest reason he has a bad save percentage I'd say is because of the penalty killing. Terrible PK that Jets team has. Their defense kinda sucks too. Not Tampa Bay bad, but not good.

I actually find hockey players to look the youngest out of any sport. Now of course there are a couple guys who look terrible. Stephen Weiss now he does not look 29. He looks like he's one of the oldest players in the league, he just looks really beat up. I always thought Claude Giroux looked much older than he was too and he's only 25. Weiss just looks over 40. I mean he looks years older than Marty, and Jagr, and maybe even Selanne too.

Agreed, and with Getzlaf getting over $8M/yr, the estimates that Perry will get closer to $9M seem realistic. Dawning of a new age in signings, imo.

That's what I was afraid of. Many people insisted though that with the new CBA and lower cap that the salaries would go down. Maybe they'll just get ridiculous for only the big names though.

TG going off on Twitter over Daugavins' shootout move was hilarious. I didn't have any problem with it. At least he got it on goal.

I fall in with the school of thought that says it's a ludicrous way to decide a game in the first place, so why not make it a farce whenever possible?

Salaries are down. It just doesn't have dead years to bring the cap down. Cap numbers for star players will probably get higher but I don't expect the other players to get similar treatment as they never had longterm cap circumventing deals to begin with. Also the cap will eventually go back up so it's not a major deal.

Even the boston announcing duo said immediately after the attempt that it was shocking to think that a point is riding on the line right now. Right before they celebrated their shootout win of course.

Hate the shootout, no problem with KD's attempt.

pretty much where I'm at. If they like spin-o-ramas that bump the goalie, Kane slowing to a damn near stop and all the other all-star game gimmicks, this is fine by me too.

Anything goes when it's not part of the game anyways.

Still would prefer 5 min 4on4 play then 3on3 until someone scores - at least those can both happen in a real game situation. Or hey, just bring back ties.

yeah this. 5 mins 4 on 4, 5 minutes 3 on 3, and if nobody's scored yet- gasp- there's a tie.

the shootouts a joke, so if some players expose it, so be it. hopefully someone will do something wacky enough to force the nhl to change, but highly unlikely.

If they want to give that lame extra point do it at the end of OT. I'd be down with 10 minutes of 4 on 4 OT.

I hate the shootout more and more every time I see one. I have to admit to actually leaving games after OT sometimes and listening to the shootout in my car as I beat all the traffic out of the area. I find them to be repetitive and dull. You seen one, you seen 'em all.

Mr. Bettman, why can't we decide a hockey game by playing hockey?
