I don't like the way Chicago handled the entire Toews/Kane situation. They needed a re-tool but botched it so bad that they need to go full tank. That team never should have been as bad as the front office let them get.
He actually just announced long COVID. Had not seen that before.

Bowman wrecked this team. That Jones trade was the end. Grossly overpaid when Hamilton is better and was available to boot. Poor drafting and poor signings. Terrible trades.

We'll see what they do with McCabe, Kane and the others. Davidson's story yet to be told but that Jones contract is immovable.

my buddy in chicago told me Toews has had concussion issues and to state that one more and "he;s done" in his words

i think the ball in clearly in Kane's court. he has openly stated that "i'm the one with the no movement clause", has put the GM in a no win situation by asking for an extension then alternately saying he'll approve a trade if it suits him then recently giving a list of 2 teams he would go to, one of which up till now hasn't wanted him and the other just dealt for O'Reilly

he has laid down on the job all season and suddenly has decided to play the last few games and has intimated that he's condisering either having hip surgery or just sitting out the rest of the season if he isn't dealt. then he has started popping off about how the management hasn't made good moves, developed players properly, etc

Kane's arrogance has a huge part to play in this although I am confident that Chicago's asking price was way too high for the Rangers liking

If Kane wants to cherry pick just a couple of destinations, my guess is he really doesn’t want to leave the Blackhawks all that badly.

apparently, when he asked for an extension, the Hawks kinda danced around it.....it seems like a game of chicken right now. the Hawks are saying the right things up to this point while Kane is starting to show his agitation.

from all i hear, he thought he'd say Rangers, they'd say OK, Hawks would comply and it would get done. problem for Rangers was his shitty play all year, his chronic 34 year old hip and the Hawks asking price which was supposedly either Kakko or Lafreniere, and a 1st as a starting point

The ball is really in Kane’s court. Either open up his list of acceptable destinations or play out the string in Chicago.

I saw some people shitting on that Toronto deal, I think it's pretty good for them. A hefty price but if O'Reilly can be a shutdown center and Acciari can bring physicality to their lineup they'll be better for it. That forward group just got a lot more versatile.
The running criticism of that team is that they're a bunch of softies that crumble when the play gets tough. So, they pick up an important guy who's the opposite of that and they get dragged for spending too many draft picks. I sense the rationalization working hard here.

Anaheim blows a 2-0 lead and a 3-2 lead with 7 minutes to go and loses to Florida. At this point Anaheim is not even hiding how hard they are tanking.

I'm trying to figure this out. So, they build a 2 goal lead, and with 7 mins to go they remember they're supposed to be tanking and stop trying or something?

The story I see is Florida playing at home against a west coast team who is arguably the worst in the league and yet they almost lost to them.

It won’t take much to get the #8 spot this year. Despite that, it’s hard to imagine Florida will make it.

Hopefully Cash Cab (Kane) and Captain Coward (Toews) never have another moment of happiness playing hockey the rest of the way. Kane particularly feels like a guy who eventually goes to jail for tax evasion, insider trading, etc. down the line.

Remember last year when he was good and you weren’t even allowed to hint that Sorokin was as good as him? Lol

i posted in a couple of places that what sorokin did tonight is exactly why you don't root for the isles not to make the playoffs. ...as my good pal @mm11 has said quite eloquently and often, just get us to the dance and anything can happen!

considering how many games we played, who is rooting for Washington tonigt?
tough call double m......lots of ebb and flow to come the next several weeks. maybe they'll stop the season today as a rewards for how the schedule/covid hurt us last year and we'll get in as WC1
