God awful GM in his post for 10 years.

Columbus has been saddled with poor GM choices (and coaches) almost its entire history. Torts made Kukaluwhatever look good for a period and that’s it. The media always pumped Kuka like he was was magician.

And Davison is part of the problem there too…

Davidson says they are looking outside the org. So, isles fans will have some insight into who are the GM candidates as some of them will be leaked.

Some folks here would disagree. I’m not one of them.

Not if Davidson goes through his Rolodex of retreads and cronies.
It’s gonna be interesting on who they hire. That team is a mess and not moving up the standings anytime soon. While it’s a GM job, it’s not very attractive in the sense of roster flexibility and assets.

Does Jarmo find a new home given his body of work. Can you see any scenario in which he finds his way to the Island in the future as possibly an assistant GM? Or given his record is he even a desirable candidate. Thoughts

The guy hired Babcock and it blew up in his face lol
So did Davidson, but he’s still around to continue the ineptitude. Mainly bc Priest runs the family office for the ‘kid’ that now owns the team. Priest needs a close ally like JD on the hockey side.

They've got some really interesting assets (Fantilli, Werenski, and all those Russians), and some incredibly bizarre commitments. The JG & Laine disasters are high profile, but Severson and Gudbranson for 10.25 is inexplicable even as a mistake.

Lots of rumblings on Twitter about the Isles potentially hosting the next ASG

There was an article or two not long about it happening after the retail village is up and running. Seems like they wanted to delay until they could cash in on all aspects of the ASG or draft, which makes complete sense. I think Malkin was interviewed and mentioned that The Park is partly to show the NHL some of the ways it could create a fun experience for those sorts of league events as well.

It's too nice of an arena in one of the biggest markets to not host the event once everything is in place.

I don't think trading Brock is necessarily a bad idea, but if anyone thinks he'll be traded for picks that we'll then use to draft kids - I have a feeling you'll be disappointed.

I could see Brock being traded as part of a 3-way deal, or traded for futures that are then flipped in a separate deal. I like Brock (at least the Brock prior to the past month or two), but if he can be turned into a younger, dynamic forward - sign me up.

90% of the components of the Belmont Park revitalization are scheduled to be in place by 2026. The retail village is set to open this July, the race track's grandstand renovation is scheduled to be completed by NYRA in 2026. That leaves the hotel as the last component. At this time the hotel is TBD but still on the table according to NY Arena Partners.

I would think the hotel would be essential to hosting at least the draft if not the ASG as well.

They could headquarter at the Garden City Hotel, same as the Belmont Stakes does. But let’s see what happens once the retail district is completed. The hotel is a NYAP project. Maybe they can finalize something as the grandstand rebuild continues.

Sweet kings OT win 🤣

kings guy takes penalty in OT, gets out of the box as penalty expires on a breakaway and scores first ever nhl goal

Flyers jerseys look like shit on tv because of the weird decision to have that nameplate run onto the arm.
