Thanks, didn’t realize that only posted link and not the photo!

No problem.

The change from Twitter to X has f***ed things up on the site when it comes to embedding tweets too so I try to get the proper link that will embed whenever I can to make it easier on people.

For anyone wondering, you need the link to a tweet that has "twitter" in the URL and not the "x" domain name to get it to embed. From PC I just click on the tweet and copy the URL from the address bar. Using the "copy link" function doesn't work properly from what I can tell.

For embedding an X post try copying and pasting the URL of the post from the address window into your post here. I have to remind myself to do that more often but it works, otherwise you just get a link to the X post.

Just checking the standings, how does the NHL allow Ottawa to play seven less games than Columbus a quarter of the way into the season?!

They travelled to Europe. How does their schedule compare to the teams they travelled with?

Nobody in the NHL has played less than 20 games.

Minnesota: 21 GP
Detroit: 22 GP
Toronto: 21 GP

The Kings and Capitals are the only teams at 20 games played. So strange.

Well, keep waiting for Panarin, Johnny Trademark, and the DeBrincats to want to play for you and maybe things will get better. Instead you have pay $9M figure skaters that have ‘talent.’

86 pt pace for the figure skater. So hes not mcdavid but im gonna say maybe just maybe he has a little 'talent'? He does a better triple lutz than mcdavid though

Yeah, he had a solid game last night and impacted the game positively. Once in a blue moon.

He does have talent, but its his continued failure of executing it that elevates the team’s performance and success.

For the ‘hey, look at his points totals’ crowd, enjoy it, plenty of players can get points, but don’t move the needle for their teams success.

Agreed. Barzal doesn’t have games like this often enough, for long enough stretches to carry this team. This is what frustrates so many fans. Barzal is capable of playing this way. All too often he lapses back into trying to be elusive and holding onto the puck until he’s trapped himself into a turnover or ends the play without getting a scoring chance.

Based on his meteoric beginning to his NHL career Barzal has disappointed nearly all of us to some degree.

Yet he remains the most dynamic player we have. Speed, skill and you can pencil him in for just under a PPG.

If you’re inclined to trade him it would be undoubtedly for a very good player but someone likely slower and with a lower ceiling. On a team with a mediocre talent base that would be a mistake.

You want to cut bait on depreciating assets? Nothing wrong with that. There’s been plenty of opportunities to do just that over the last decade. Wally, Beau, Bailey, JHS and MDC come to mind. Hold onto them too long and their value approaches zero and in some cases goes negative. We’re there now with JGP and Cizikas. It’s not too late to make a move on them (Well, maybe on JGP)

Like him or not, Barzal is a keeper. I suspect his value now is about as low as it will go. Criticize him all you want. He needs to be better. I just hope the franchise doesn’t make a rash move here they will regret.

That Barzal interview on ESPN+ after the game was probably like some of the pre-draft interviews he had with teams who then passed over him.

Suppose Van can’t sign Pettersson? Or things go bad in Ottawa and Tkachuk wants out. You wouldn’t do either of those deals?

Peterson will be resigned and things are already bad in Ottawa yet Tzachuk isn’t going anywhere.

Sure I’d make both of those deals but they won’t be on the table.

Long season, but with Hamilton done, the Devils can’t out score their weak goaltending like last season, turnover on defense, they are gonna be forced to make a trade or two with minimal cap space.

The Devils might be lucky to fighting for a playoff spot. That Meier trade was dumb (same with the resign). He traded junk for him, but misplaced trade and it ate up valuable cap space.

Tuned into NHL Network last night and found this interesting, the Coyotes have won 5 straight and it just happens that the teams they have beaten during that run are the Stanley Cup winners in the past 5 years. What does it mean, nothing I guess but I found it to be a pretty cool stat. Washington, Colorado , ST. Louis , Vegas , Tampa.

It means that judging our schedule by LAST YEAR'S playoff teams, and our records against them, as the way to judge this year's performance, is pretty weak. I was going to make this point too.

The Senators placed another person over DJ Smith's shoulders to observe him, rather than firing him.

I could see Lou doing something like this with Lambert and it would strike me as a half-assed solution.

That seems like a terrible situation. What coach wants a baby sitter?
