Washington beats the Devils . . . Ruff obviously needs to go
Just putting the HF spin on the loss . . .

Why? Are the Devils on a losing streak to open the season?
They're 3-2-1, a CLEAR underperformance!!!

At some point we all need to remember that we root for a team, this isn't about putting food on the table, a roof over our family's head, etc.

Too many here are treating this like we are going to die young if the team doesn't outperform.

This probably is the reason Shane Pinto remained unsigned. The Snes got wind of the investigation.

Heck, he'll come cheap now! Gauthier for Pinto!

Devils fans wanted Ruff gone last season after starting 0-2 and then 3-3 with a weak opening schedule.

Isles fans are starting to say the same thing about Lambert. Even though it’s more of a talent deficit problem, this time the fans might be onto something.

Keep Gauthier. Offer them Clutterbuck!

If the Isles beat OTT tonight they'll also be 3-2-1. One win and we'll go from being hopeless stinkers to being tied with the future Cup champs. :phew:
Sarcasm acknowledged and appreciated. I’ll add this. If they had some puck luck in OT against the Devils they’d be 4-1-1.

And if Grandma had….

I’m far from an optimist regarding our chances this year but we need a way bigger sample size before anyone starts jumping off a bridge.

Some people around here have been floating in the water since before game 1.

Watching the Flyers-Ducks game. 6-3 Ducks with 10 minutes left. Tortorella gave the Ducks a gift by starting Sam Ersson in goal today. He was brutal. 6 goals on 20 shots halfway through the 3rd period. Many of them softies.

How does Ross Johnston look?

For anyone not keeping up, Adam Johnson took a skate to the throat in a freak collision and ended up passing away. It's a bizarre looking injury and I wouldn't recommend watching the video.

Also, please do not post the video here. If anyone would like to view it they can seek it out on other websites. Thank you.

The other player has to feel terrible. I really wish hockey players would stop trying to get up and act tough after something like that. Stay down and let them treat you.

With these incidents it's probably hit or miss. I think I remember reading that if Zednik didn't skate off the ice himself after his incident he wouldn't have made it because seconds can make all the difference in that situation. I haven't seen enough about the Johnson incident to say one way or the other. I read they asked all the fans to leave the arena though so it must've been a horrible sight on the ice.

I'm not one to advocate for mandatory rules all the time, but you have to think from a risk/benefit standpoint it might be time to visit mandatory neck guards in the NHL. It kind of reminds me of the halo/aeroscreens that they mandated on Indy race cars after Justin Wilson's death at Pocono.

God damn that is horrific and sad.

Sounds like a similar incident to the one that took the life of a Connecticut high school player last year.

I agree with your suggestion. If designed correctly, the players shouldn’t put up much of a fight I suspect. It wasn’t that long ago that nets were put up behind the goals. There was a bit of backlash when that was suggested but we’ve all moved on.

Should probably go full face cage or shield as well, like high school and college
