He was a complementary player to Barkov in Florida. He was expected to bring a little more to the Flames and he’s not doing it.

You can’t see Dubas without a jaundiced eye, can you?
In the Adam Johnson aftermath how can you see this as Dubas sucking up to the media?

Watching the Kings game.

The Flames certainly have complimentary pieces that should allow them to obtain good pieces at the deadline. Obviously Lindholm is the biggest piece for top competitors followed by Hanifin. If Sharangovich becomes available, I think NYI ought to have some interest.

I'm not surprised that Kadri isn't working out there. It was always a bad fit. I think Kadri would have worked w NYI if Trotz were the coach, but not with Lambert. When Kadri freelances, he's bad. When he trusts his teammates + plays simple he's very good (and his flashes of skill result in goals). It's night and day.

Any reminiscences regarding the Isles missing out on Kadri always gets my attention.

Kadri was a 0.7 PPG scorer for many seasons prior to his crazy outlier of a season with 1.2 PPG on a stacked offensive juggernaut.

Very good player? Absolutely. Worth $7M X 7 years on a deal that started when he turned 32 years old?

I have to believe that he’ll bounce back from a really slow start this season but signing him was fools gold from the onset.

This is all true. I was simply making the point that he's the kind of player who plays better on good teams than he does on bad ones. I absolutely agree that 7 years was not doable for NYI, for sure. But as a player, on NYI's roster, with Trotz as coach, I think he would have been a much better fit than he is in Calgary.

I have soft spot for both Anaheim and Arizona and enjoy watching their games. Entertaining game last night between the two of them. Quick observation- Pavel Mintyukov is legit.

Same with Leo Carlson. I was surprised they picked him over Fantilli. It will be interesting to debate the 2 and 3 picks over both players career.

Gotta love those Oilers…two players and the rest is mediocre or living off those two.

Good luck to all those ‘writers’ that pegged them to win the Cup. Completely dismissing the majority of their crap roster.,Hahaha.

One or more of the regulars here have mentioned Hanafin as a great addition for the Isles. Hard to disagree with that.

Speaking as someone who preferred the retool rather than the all in mentality Lou clearly embraces, I’d say “sure Lou go out and get him.” Especially with Pelech on the sidelines he’d be a great addition.

Of course, that’s easier said than done. Many teams including the Leafs and the Rags have injuries on D and might be interested in acquiring him too. Plenty of teams also have LTIR salary to play with. Now the cost: It’s next year’s first round pick +. We’d also have to send back salary which would make the + even more for the Isles.

Friedman had a recent tweet saying the Flames were in contract extension talks with him so this all might be moot.

I think I saw that Calgary has stopped negotiations with everyone recently because of their poor start. They might be tearing it all down soon.
