1 year x $7M 😳. You’ve come a long way baby.

Teams do not want to give the term to these older players anymore, Klingberg is betting on himself and will try to make bank again next year (and will also be dealt at the deadline to a contender).

Yep. He had no choice but to take this kind of contract. His opening demands of 4x$6M aren’t realistic in today’s NHL. Klingberg fired his agent yesterday, got new representation and had to settle on a deal far below his original ask.

I hope Nazem Kadri is paying attention.

UFA reckoning coming for the rest of the players out there.

I really don't think Kadri is waiting because his contract demands are too high, but I do think Klingberg only cared about money. Haven't checked the cap situation around the league but maybe Klingberg is thinking more teams will be vying for his services next summer.

He gets to stay in the west too - familiar with the opposition and goalies.

He may get a 4yr deal next season, may…

You may be right about Kadri waiting for something else, but his demands are way too high. 7 years at 32 years old is not gonna happen.

When Leddy signed at 4x4, Klingberg should have read the landscape and adjusted accordingly.

The contender market may be limited and his $7M is gonna require a team to shed a body to add him even with the cap burn later in the season.

Not if ANA retains 50%, 3.5M per (prorated at the deadline) is palatable for almost any team except Vegas.

Yep, it's a good deal for him given the circumstances. He'll end up playing meaningful games in March/April at the very least.

Today’s installment of “Why Isles fans can’t have good things.”

We will potentially be paying Nazem “Who?” Kadri $2+M/yr more at age 37.

As opposed to his buddy Marchand who is one of my least favorite ( says the guy who wants Kadri here!)
I like Marchand a lot, too. Home town boy. Super nice to my kids at some charity things. Step-son's coach played with him growing up and still hangs with him. Good guy despite his on ice antics.

And a nose that is continued on Patrice Bergeron.

Rags naming Trouba captain is hilarious. Should have been Kreider lol rags fans were putting Trouba in many trade proposals. They’re ready to rid themselves of him lol
