Amazing they would just move huberdeau like that... almost shocking. Shows that the organizational trust that exists in Tampa by no means exists in with the cats.

This creates a big dilemma for Calgary. Their team, right now, is competitive in the west, but they have 2 expiring contracts next off-season just like this one. They'd be best off moving one sooner than later. Both assets are are worth more than their AAVs.

Calgary could hypothetically end up with four 1st round picks in 2023, talk about pivoting…

Loving it down here. Don't imagine going back to NY at any point. We are settling in at this point and this weather is going to be fantastic for some winter golf.
Glad to hear that man! Really am

The first time I went back and journeyed into Manhattan to visit my old company, I looked around and literally said out loud "what the hell took me so long"

There is a fine dining place in Greenville called "Saskatoon Steaks Fish and Wild Game" that I've always wanted to try. They have stuff like elk and antelope. One of these days, I'll take the wife

That is not far away from me at all. May have to try that one day haha.

Anyway, before the mods remove these posts for being off topic I want to put it on the record yet again that Kadri would be a fantastic get for this team and would fit the identity perfectly.

Totally agree. I love his edge and I feel we were lacking that last season

Kadri would be great, only if the term and cost is reasonable.

I hate the idea of a long term high AAV deal for a soon to be 32 year old though admittedly he does make us better in the short term.

Nevertheless he costs the franchise nothing other than potential opportunity costs on another player down the road. We might also be forced into a fire sale to find cap space for his deal.

I’d take a pass on him but last I checked, Lou isn’t returning my calls.

If the Islanders had only listened and added both Dzingel and Kris Versteeg, they would have a Cup right now.

Of course it would be the AHL Calder Cup, but former stick boys who love spreadsheets, have been made NHL GMs on such a move.

Red Card Penalty For You!

Any Post That Contains Kris Versteeg On This Board Is Required Two Things... He Is Designated As Coming To My New York Islanders And Capitalization Of Every Word.

Changing agents in the middle of free agency? Somebody must have an unrealistic opinion of what their worth is on the open market.

I mentioned earlier, that in various legit media pods/interviews (not blogger/twitter fodder made up) was that Klingberg placed a significance of his value around his salary. DAL was not going to go in that direction, so off he went to the UFA market. And...no takers with what he was asking (whatever it was).

There's a divide right now between too many teams are over the cap and don't have a LTIR body to help and a fair amount of teams under the cap. The summer seems like its a chess match now (and a long one) on how one can move cap space, at what cost, and what adjustments UFAs are gonna make to actually get a deal.

We may see a high number of one year deals or tryouts for known players - Too many players in the league are on long term deals, so teams need to be very cautious on giving term to lower rung players, paying lower rung players more than they are actually producing, and providing overall flexibility.

Earlier this week I made a statement that in the coming years we're going to have a divide in the NHL, with young players under 30 taking up the bulk of a team's cap space and players 30 (some who haven't even hit their prime yet) and over becoming aged out or having to take cheap contracts.

A player at 33 years old might have to take sign a $1M contract or a PTO to get into a team's camp.

While he might not be a topline player, Danton Heinen signing only a one-year, $1 million contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins seems like a steal for them.

Not sure if he is more of a product of the players around him and circumstances, but he had more goals than I expected last season, including three in seven playoff games and two against the Isles in three games, and is seemingly a positive player all-around.

And it is not like he is old, he is only 27-years old. Good under-the-radar signing for the Penguins.

I would agree with that. The 2nd contract and the cap are forcing that, which indirectly is placing an emphasis on younger guys, which is 'changing' the game.
