In my younger days I had many a donut at DD, every variety at least once I’m sure.

Nowadays I rarely eat donuts but a new booshie donut place opened up in town so I had to try it. They were ridiculously good but at $3+ a donut that’s just stupid.

Kind of like signing a soon to be 32 year old coming off a career year to a $7Mx7 year contract and trading other contributing players at pennies on the dollar just to fit the new aging “star” into your salary cap.
3 bucks a donut. A little steep, says the guy who has a 4-5 dollar Starbucks in hand about 4 times a week!

fixed your Andrew Ladd comment .

Most DD on Long Island don’t even make the donuts at the location any more . if they are out of donuts , they are out until tomorrow when the truck comes . Now please don’t anybody take this next part the wrong way . At most DD locations I have been to it’s all Indian owned. These people can not make a correct cup of coffee. For years now I go to 7-11 and just make it myself.

In 2000/2001 season John VB was 10-25-5 for your New York Islanders . That was pre Yashin and Peca. A young ,tall, goofy kid named Chara played all 82 games. Juraj Kolnik was going to be the second coming of Paul Kariya. We traded Jeff Toms to the Rangers. Czerkawski was the leading scorer. Also Wade Flaherty, Chris Terrieri, John VB , all shared the net with the Islanders future franchise killing goaltender rookie Rick DiPietro.

What if what if what if, Spezza, and Gaborik or Heatley were islanders . We kept Chara ,Luongo,Palffy, Brewer, Bertuzzi,McCabe . LETS NOT GO THERE ALREADY DID ITS THE SUMMER. A group core like that could have been special instead of 1000s of games goals, points, and saves for other teams . LGI

THIS IS YOUR FAILT .hahaha….all you did as type Vanbiesbrook..
Fans love to harp on this, but all those players under that ownership and management (and coaching) would not have accomplished much. They needed adults in the room - they developed mainly because they ended up in better organizations.

Big bagel fan here but hard roll all the way for the egg sandwich.

Btw Scott, we call that other thing a Chicken Parm hero.
Love a warm bagel with lox, red onion and capers every now and then. Not sure they know what a hard roll is down here

Do love that a guy from Italy by way of NY opened up a coffee shop/cafe close by

Gonna go for a hot soppressata and prosciutto panini for lunch today. A little arugula and balsamic glaze. Maybe a Manhattan Special

Maybe over lunch I'll try and calculate Mets magic number!

That sounds

That sounds like a great sandwich. Just don’t call it a hoagie!

Damn, gotta feel bad for the guy. But considering his injuries the past year or two, I feel a lot better about Lou letting him walk.

so who is the goalie in Vegas now? I don't want to leave us without a backup, and we would need to find an adequate one, but I would have to think they are calling around the league now and Lou might have some leverage with Varly. .

Edit: just took a peak at the Vegas board to see what they were saying.. The name they are repeatedly mentioning about going after is Varlamov. I would roll the dice on Sorokin without a 1B, if we can get a good return and find an adequate backup vet for 20-25 games. It would also solve our cap problems. If Sorokin got hurt even with Varly healthy I think our chances would be remote anyway.

I feel terrible for Lehner. Loved his tenure as an Islander and hope he makes a full a speedy recovery. Hip injuries are always worrisome, and even worse for a goalie. But it looks like the Isles made the right call and had legitimate concerns about Lehner's body type and ability to remain healthy.

Are you trying to get Monkey Pox?

We’d all be happy to ride Sorokin for the entirety of the playoffs. Problem is, relying on a subpar 1B goalie for 20+ regular season games may leave us on the outside looking in.

If Varly commands a big overpayment I’d roll the dice. Still, I’d hate to use that newly found cap space on Kadri. Better to use those new assets on someone like Kane if he even agreed to come to the Island.

agreed for the most part. I don't want to trade Varly if there are no options for a backup, that would be suicide, but I would trade him for the caps space and a good return if we were able to downgrade only somewhat to a serviceable cheaper backup that could play and give us a chance in those 20-25 games ... using the cap space to sign a player such as Kadri, and get picks/prospects in return for the last year of Varly could still result in a fairly significant net win

Bailey is a soft, perimeter player that shrinks when the games get big. Also, my favorite player is Mike Gartner.

I’ll just leave this here so you can see there is no comparison between the two.

Gartner career stats. Take note of the “goals”. That’s kinda important:

Almost a point per game player eh? I know you Baileytards overlook things like “goals scored” but it’s kinda important to the rest of us.

Gartner also skated like the wind.. and was a threat coming down the ice.

So between just those two points, he is the polar opposite of Bailey. And I never said he was my favorite player… but simply one of my fav non- Islanders players.

Wanna try again?
