The Western Conference is just so utterly useless. How do the Avs, winners of 6 straight play the Penguins, losers of 4 straight including a home loss to the freaking hapless Canadiens, and the Avs not only only lose but get absolutely dominated from beginning to end. This should have been a sure loss for the Penguins but instead now it gets them right back in. Not good.

1) Both teams have a ton of injuries.

2) Pens have dominated quite a few recent games and only lost through terrible goaltending/puck luck.

3) Year in and year out the Pens can look terrible and flip the switch and go on a tear. Every year it happens, and every year people are surprised.

Alas, it is determined, the true moral of this plot
Western conference teams can help you, but probably not

That’s nuts. I remember when Teemu Selanne did it as a rookie.
That was the one season I did fantasy hockey… Picked him up as a free agent, essentially off of waivers. Also had Mogilny (76 Goals).

It was only a seven team fantasy league amongst friends. So considering the 92-93 season and the bloated offense, all of our lineups had ridiculous point producers.

What’s with all the high scoring games the last couple weeks?

Watching Car/NYR tonight. Do the Canes have the offensive horses to make a run in the east? Especially without Svech.

I think it's a case of a lot of motivated teams vs teams that are more indifferent and/or teams that nerves are in overdrive based alot where you are in the standings
