I’d have had Kapanen over Turbo but that’s just because he was one of my all-time favorites (saw him live in Hartford and Springfield numerous times).

Otherwise I don’t think there’s much to argue over except maybe Wallin over Gleason?
He was a good dude. He signed my jersey at his kitchen table.

Given the rest of the lineup, it could be argued that LaRose would be a better fit. The lineup consists mostly of power forwards and/or defensively responsible two-way players. While we do have a few "skill" guys here and there (Aho, Whitney, Skinner), a player like LaRose would be more likely to play the style of play the lineup would likely dictate.
If you want fit, the lineup needs more Hamilton to play the point on the power play.

Jeff Hamilton.

LOL, no, it's not. TT has 405 career points in 589 games and a career high of 76. Larose has 180 career points in 508 games and a career high of 32.

I get it, in a time when we had nothing to root for, fans loved "try hard" Chad LaRose, but he's not even close to TT.

(don't think any of this is actual lines or anything, just how they had it all set up..... Alphabetically, of course)
Forwards include 11 of the Top 12 in points. Kapanen was the omission. Svechnikov isn’t too far behind, though.

Defense includes 5 of the Top 6 in GP. Wallin and Hill played more games than Hedican. EDIT: As pointed out below, Hill and Hedican played the same amount of games.

Ward and Irbe are 1 and 2 in starts.

I hadn't thought of Hill, but he's maybe a very slight snub. I can understand taking Hedican because of the Cup legacy.

Oddly, Hill and Hedican both played exactly 369 games for the Canes. So from a longevity standpoint it's a coin flip.

Hill was on my list. Same number of games, but 56 more points than Hedican as a Cane.

To clarify, I wasn’t arguing for Hill. I was just commenting on the correlation with longevity/cumulative production.

I think I voted for Stillman and Hamilton, to mix it up a bit. Both had short stays, but peaked at a high level; Stillman was a core player in 05-06 and Hamilton may have won the first Norris in team history had he not got hurt in 19-20.

Anyone else find it odd that our Canes media reporter Walt Ruff has turned off replies to his tweets the last few weeks?

Oh I agree at times the replies can be negative. But it’s Twitter, that is how it goes on there. He just has to learn to ignore it if he doesn’t like it IMO.

I'm not certain of Walt's role on the team, so I'm not sure about how I feel about him turning off replies.

His Twitter bio says "Editorial Content Producer and Reporter", which, if that is his role, means he's got no obligation to subject himself to the wave of shit that I'm sure comes his way.

If he were part of the PR team, then I'd say it's probably bad taste to have the Public Relations team block commentary (no matter how inane) from the public.

However, the team account regularly retweets Walt's updates during the games (rather than use the PR account), so in that way, he seems to have a bigger role than what's listed in his bio.

1000% agree. That is what I was getting at. You can’t pick and choose who or when people reply to your tweets if your the team “reporter”.

Anyways, not a big deal but just think people should be able to reply to him if they so choose. I never have, but others have to right to be upset if the team isn’t playing well. I read lots of the responses before to his previous tweets and no one was out of line. Just calling a spade a spade with how bad we have been playing sometimes over the last month. Not like they were calling him out or being mean or something to him.

Turning off replies is weak, lol especially this season. What is he going to do if we go back to our historical barely .500 play? Delete his account? Move down to the AHL or ECHL? Give me his job and salary and you can insult me as much as you want.

How much do you think he makes? I’m under the impression this is much more of a "I don't get paid enough for this shit" situation.

It is what it is, but given the cost of season tickets where to be in the lower bowl you're basically having to drop $10k for a pair of tickets per year, having the teams PR guy silence critics and the guy who is hosting everything Canes related on their flagship radio station tell those same fans to stop watching and find something else to do is REALLY bad optics.

Not everything is going to go swimmingly. People who invest a lot of time and money into this team are going to be legitimately upset when shit hits the fan. If you aren't capable of dealing with that, maybe the problem isn't with the fans but with your own fragility. You have to have thick skin to be in customer relations.
