Much like I said with Florida last season, I think the Bruins are an outstanding team, and I'd still take Tampa in a series over them.
Agreed. The Bolts have matched up extremely well against this same Bruins core/team and smoked them in 2 playoff series. Even with them losing a few pieces in recent years if I were a betting man I'd take Tampa in any series against the Bruins this year. Also, I'd rather meet the Bruins or Leafs than the Lightning in the ECF. Vasi, Stamkos, Point, Kucherov, Hedman, Sergachev, etc. should scare pretty much any team out there to some degree.

Last year's Panthers team really is a good comparable for this year's Bruins. Energy from a new head coach with pretty much every role player on both those teams significantly outperforming their history and having career years. Couldn't translate to the playoffs for Florida who had some struggles against the weak Caps and then got destroyed by the Lightning. I think the Bruins would struggle with the Lightning/Leafs and even a potential wildcard team like the Rags/Pens/Caps/Sabres. Also despite Ullmark's strong year so far I would be very hesitant to count on him keeping it up into the playoffs.

Saw another tweet a few days ago that said if Boston keeps up their pace, they'd finish with 139 points (Although I think it's higher now). Even if Carolina wins every single game remaining, they'd finish with less than 139.

There's basically half a season left, and winning out won't beat the Bruins' pace. That's insane.

Yeah I saw that too.

But there is also the point that Boston's current pace would set the NHL record by 4 wins.

So that is just a roundabout way of saying that no team could possibly pass Boston at their current pace which is the best of all time by a significant margin.

Both good and bad..
Wonder how much there was to the rumors that the major leagues were looking to band together to get their own streaming options.... The dream, obviously, would be to have the regional rights just bundled within the major streaming options, like ESPN+.

I believe some teams have bought some of those options....was it Kansas City in MLB? Can't recall....

More on the money from Bloomberg: Sounds like the lenders may put Diamond up for sale after the restructuring. No comment from NHL.

In a bankruptcy, Diamond would have the option of ending contracts with teams, potentially cutting off crucial industry revenue while also allowing teams to reclaim their media rights. The company could also halt payments to the teams while keeping the contracts in place.

Saw this on Reddit.... Looks like someone is getting a new goalie mask, and very likely a Stadium Series one-off

I bet he coulda gone down to Myrtle Beach and got that shit a hell of a lot cheaper.

How awesome would that be. “Hey I’m down here at Myrtle Beach with my bros at Paradise Artworks putting the finishing touches on my sickass new mask.”

Seriously though that shits hard as hell. A buddy of mine is a tattoo artist who does some airbrush work and it’s pretty amazing.

Some news and notes through 50 games.

We have allowed the fewest 5v5 shots with Seattle 85 shots behind (about 3 games worth)
We are slightly outperforming our GA versus xGA (2 less) in 5v5. We are still well underperforming on GF vs xGF (-16) in all situations. If we all remember that gaudy chart from jfresh but are a +0.5GF over expected since out dreaded 4 week shooting drought (ended November 25th). We are worse in xGF vs actual in 5v5 with a -18 so we are +2 in PP/PK (probably PK).

We have trimmed 170 shots in 5v5 play from last year over 50 games. over 4 less in SA/60
We have allowed 7 less goals vs last year. about 0.18 GAs less/60
We are down 0.54 in goals for / 60. I wonder if so of that has to do with our 4 week drought. We were +9 above expected last year in 5v5 play. A 27 goal difference. And doing a little math confirms yes it does. A +27 in goals this season would put us at a +0.2 GF/60 compared to last season. Just to confirm our xGF/60 is higher than last season in 5v5 play.

We generate more and prevent more chances. Just need the goalies to get into their rhythms and generating more chances on the PP.

Chatfield with quite the scoring ascension lately... Through 29 games he didn't have a single point. Since then he's got 11 in 22, with a big uptick since Slavin went down with 6 points in his last 7. Pretty cool to see.

Also a weird one. We only have 2 players who are minus on the season. Coghlan at -1 (no surprise). And our worst is Svech at -2. He's definitely been cold lately but still that's pretty crazy to me considering all his linemates are comfortably in the positive.

I was listing the the OG on 99.9 and they had a guy that sat with Cooper during the game after he left the booth. Was a fun listen. Regardless of his politics, he's a fanatical Canes fan. One part of the story I found hilarious, is that when Freddy left the game, he kept worrying about how serious it was. A couple of ones I found funny and the first one this board can relate to:

“Upper body injury?” he asks. What does that even mean? He’s also a little frustrated that Don Waddell, the Hurricanes general manager, won’t give him any insight. Don just told him that Freddy was “fine,” Cooper says, and sighs. He just wants to know. He wouldn’t tell anybody. “If I can keep an economic development project secret,” Cooper tells me, “I can keep an injury report secret.”
.
I had a beard once, Cooper says. It was bad. “I looked like Festus from Gunsmoke,” he says.
.
Meyer asked Cooper how he gets his tickets. “StubHub,” the governor said.

The guy on the radio also mentioned about people booing when he was on the siren and he quipped, "I thought they were just saying "coop".

Fun read
