After Gorton comments and what happened tonight I now believe Buchnevich gets dealt and Fast is brought back.

If Kreider was going to morph into a mini Lindros it would have happened already. He is what he and that will be dominant on a team with this kind of low depth.

Disposable assets:

1) Carolina pick
2) Strome
3) Buchnevich
4) DeAngelo if the return is high enough
5) Another Defensive Prospect in the system
6) Georgiev
7) Lias Andersson

All that in some combination should be able to fetch a pretty nice under-25 center or move up in this draft to get Lundell.

And your framework is still

Panarin - Zibanejad - Kakko
Lafreniere - acquired center - Kravtsov
Kreider - Chytil - Gauthier
Lemieux - Barron - who cares

So you're playing the guy who couldn't make the team this in the top 6 over Kreider?

I could see Gorton talking about a lot of different guys...Strome was ineffective and invisible, BUch started out aggressive but took too many penalties and got in the dog house, DeAngelo was plain bad (though potentially hurt) and is due a massive raise, etc etc

Pretty much all the pieces are there. The d prospect pool is stacked. Develop well and just don't hand out any dumb contracts and this should be 10 years of very very good hockey.
Zibby is a 27 year old number one center. Ok so we need a 2C if Chytil (a 20 year old) isn't quite ready yet. Not the end of the world an no need to try to put square pegs into round holes. Leave Kravtsov and Kakko where they perform best.
If Strome likes what he sees and is willing to take 4 million per great

Remember when Sean Day was pretty much our only prospect 4-5 years ago? Now Kravtsov isn't even our best prospect winger. Well done JG.
#7OA a flop? No problem!

So friggen happy. Kind of bizarre how we rarely ever get any assistance from the hockey gods anytime, any year, and yet the past two years, them gods have been treating us awfully nice.

Question for the @Joey Bones and others who spend hours and hours researching these prospects.....how friggen good is this kid? Are we talking Austin Mathews, Jack Eichel type good or is Lafrenier a tier below that?

From the highlights I've seen of him, he does seem like the kind of player who will have an impact right off the bat. I did also as did most of us in here, think the same about Kakko as well...just sayin!....lol

It's safe to assume Lafrenier has more upside than Kakko....yes?

Lol.. This lineup has more holes than swiss cheese and a coach who knows nothing about defense.

You getting a little nutty over there lol
This. There are good pieces but little cohesion. Some guys from the previous generation. A few guys that might start shape a dynasty. I get the feeling we’ll be a playoff team for the next five years (contracts will be our biggest challenge). Maybe we’ll go to the conference finals once. Hard to see beyond that.

Possibly. The Rangers really missed Fast the playoffs. As for Buch I like him but I think he is expendable and you can package him with other pieces to get something good
Agreed. Rangers will need to develop and focus on some Fast type guys for their bottom six (see the Blues Barbashev-Sundqvist 4th line last year)

It makes sense. Fast can move next Mika and Laf, Kakko takes over for Fast on Panarin's line, and Kreider plays with Chytil and possibly Kravtsov, who has shown chemistry with Chytil in the past. You then have Lemeiux, Howden and Gauthier for your fourth line, and you use Buch to get you a quality LD.

Strome is basically useless unless Panarin is carrying him. I’m not against him coming back in a short deal but I would also move him in a Second

i wanted him traded. Now we have him. Do you move Trouba before his NTC kicks in?
That one is a little harder, I don't love the guy, I think he's getting a little too much money, but I think he fills more of a role on this team and will for the next few years. And I think he was one of the only players that showed well during the play-in round and he's still young enough that he can improve his play over a full regular season
