I really hope all this Bettman chasing Rangers viewership revenue that's been going on all season (more so than usual) leads to some favorable game management for a longer run. Other than that I guess I don't really care as long as there is a pre game show. The national broadcast will probably talk about NJ about as much as Sam and Joe would anyway.

Wow took a quick peak over at the Devils board, they think they already have this one wrapped up. For a team that has been to the playoffs once in the past 10 years, and never won a playoff series in that span, its pretty incredible they are talking like its already over. Clearly been a while for them to remember what playoff hockey is like

Its as favorable a matchup for them as any they could have gotten so I can't blame them

I mean, the Devils are no slouch. In a lot of the years, this wouldn't be a first-round match-up, but at least a 2nd round one.
I understand, but given the cap we have tied up and expectations from last year with the additions made, it would be mightily disappointing not only from a fan perspective but also a management perspective. This roster should be able to beat the devils regardless of the season they’ve had.

It would be catstrophic for our organization if we lost in the first round this year based off of expectations from last year and from management. It would mean that the evaluation of where we think we are as an organization is completely wrong.

In anyway, LGR beat these satan worshippers.
And to add to it, the Devils are only getting better from here on out. They still have a couple of high end prospects to integrate into the team and their young guys that are already good are going to get better.

This is our year. They really need to get the job done.

Remember how happy many of us were to get the canes in the bubble and went on to be embarrassed?

Take note lurkers, when clamoring to oppose certain teams.

In the ice rink, a battle begins
Two rivals, foes, and bitter friends
The New York Rangers, so fierce and strong
Against the New Jersey Devils, who’ve been their opponents for so long

The puck drops, and the game is on
Skates slice the ice, and the players are gone
The Rangers strike first, with a goal so sweet
Their fans go wild, they can’t be beat

The Devils fight back, they won’t give in
Their fans cheer them on, and they start to win
But the Rangers are relentless, they won’t back down
They score again and again, and the Devils start to frown

The series is over, the Rangers have won
Their fans are ecstatic, they’ve had so much fun
The Devils are crushed, they’ve been defeated
Their fans are silent, their hopes have been depleted

The Rangers stand tall, they’ve emerged victorious
They’ve crushed their rivals, and it’s quite glorious
They see the Devils driven before them
And they hear the lamentations of their women

For in this game, the Rangers were kings
Their victory is sweet, it makes their fans sing
They’ve proved themselves worthy, they’ve earned their crown
And they’ll keep on fighting, to take the championship down.

Lol I remember, because we destroyed them in regular season. Playoffs are such a different animal.

I really want to hear the lamentations of their women.

Absolutely. Lindgren, Kreider, Goodrow, Trocheck, Schneider to name a few. I also think Laf and Tarasenko will lay a few hits also.
On the flip side......Woods, McLeod and Meier will all be getting their pound of flesh off of Shesty and Fox . They will cause just as much if not more damage then our guys on Hughes and Nico .

Well, this is what we have been waiting for. If we are to go deep into the playoffs, we need to beat these good teams. That's it in a nutshell. Everyone is worried about NJ. What about Boston or Colorado or Edmonton? We can't worry about match ups. We just need to out play these teams. If we can't beat the Devils, what chance would we have had against Boston?

And I can't believe some here are picking the Devils to win in the poll. Are you guys Rangers fans or what?

We were 4th in goals against this year. Defense is what wins playoff games. And with Shesty playing his best, heading into the playoffs, I feel good about our chances.

We just need to play our game and not worry about the other team's strengths. We have been clogging the middle, not allowing second chances pretty well of late. We continue to do this, we will be fine.

Playoffs is all about defensive breakdowns and turnovers.

I think we all saw last year how difficult it is in the playoffs. 7 games vs the Pens and Canes, facing elimination more than I care to imagine. Then having a 2-0 edge against Tampa, only to get denied a trip to the Finals. No round will be easy.

Vanacek had a .900 SV% post all star break too.

His playoff starts have not been good either.

Igor is far and away the better goalie.

When the Rangers get into a playoff series those series tend to go long. New Jersey has a very good team. Offensively they're one of the best in the league. They have a lot of players who don't yet have a lot of playoff experience. We were kind of in the same spot last year. I think there are areas where we have an advantage and areas where they might too. We're going to have to figure out how to contain Jack Hughes for sure. In that it's not a one and done and then you see him a month later. One game after another I'm hoping makes it easier for us to strategize shit like that.

We're going to need Igor to be at the top of his game but IMO our defense should be better than last year. Miller and Schneider are better and I think Mikkola is a significant upgrade over Braun or Nemeth. It's a bigger, better skating, more physical D.

If dislike was an option here. I don’t like this. I need me some Sam playoff excitement and mishaps for at least one round.
The Devils have Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes, but the Rangers have a Hughes of their own, Riley. He's a top Rangers prospect, Joe. But he's not related to the two Hughes on the Devils. And Zibanejad scores! No, sorry! It was Tarasenko!
