We just need to skate. Provide energy, don't just coast. I really hope these guys have another level of effort because they'll need it for this series.
It's mentioned here and elsewhere but for the rangers experience to mean anything, it has to mean playing patient, disciplined hockey. We have to make jersey work for every inch and we have to be committed to attacking vanacek as often as possible. If they can plant the seed of doubt in that goalie early, it could go a long way towards putting the devils back on their heels. But that means going for rebounds, screens, and tips. Not pass into the net.
Whoever said start game one opening faceoff with the fourth line, I totally agree. Set the tone not even mostly for the devils but for our team and how we need to play. Biggest X-Factors in the series are Kane for the Rangers and likely Luke Hughes for the Devils. The former has underwhelmed, especially on the power play, but the playoffs are what we got him for; the latter is uber-talented and an unknown commodity. Cale Makar made a huge impact for Colorado when he joined for the playoffs.
Concert will be moved. When it was announced, there was a disclaimer that it was subject to change based on Knicks and Rangers play-off schedule . No way the Rangers could play in afternoon and they change over for a concert in time. Takes a lot longer than to change over Knucks-->Rangers or vice versa. How could they have the game on saturday afternoon if there is a Billy Joel concert schedule for the evening? First off I hate Rangers afternoon games...maybe it's me but the intensity isn't the same as evening.
What are they gonna start the game at noon? UGH.
Also what if that game went into triple overtime and didn't end until 6/6:30 pm? They are gonna put on a concert in an hour later? Just move the damn concert and have the game played at night.
Don La Greca was talking about it this afternoon. Since he does radio either pre and post game or calls games when Kenny Albert is busy, he said Saturday and likely a night game.Concert will be moved. Someone in a facebook group who seems to have inside info has said Saturday at 8pm. His info is pretty much always correct, so I have no reason to not believe him. But, still waiting for this Colorado game to end so we can get it officially.Don La Greca was talking about it this afternoon. Best Rangers roster in almost 30 years, arguably the underdog in the first round. Can't make this shit up.
Quickest it can be changed from knicks to rangers is 3 hours I believe, but with playoffs and the fact that OT can last till the game ends, theres no way that they'd overlap a concert with something of that nature.Concert will be moved. Agree. We do have talent but my issue is that our "top guys" are aging. The kids haven't been given the reins yet. While the Devils' young guys ARE their top guys because in the years prior they were grown that way. Rangers stiffled and delayed the development of our young guys while the Devils spoon fed top minutes and situations to their young guys. So while we have kids that SHOULD be where the Devils young guys are at in their development, ours despite being the same age groups are behind because our organization threw all it's eggs in the Panarin basket instead of the high draft picks. There's way too many people dismissing the Devils just because they haven't been in the playoffs with this core before. Like they are not going to be capable of bearing down, figuring it out, and running us off the ice like they have so far in the regular season.
This is tangentially related to the concept frequently espoused on this board about how much playoff experience matters, which is, in reality, not all that much. A little, but it gets way overhyped. Example: We had zero playoff experience last year and were maybe a bad Trouba penalty away from being up 3-0 in the conference finals against the Lightning, which would have almost certainly gotten us to the Cup finals.
Talent matters far more, and the Devils have a lot of it.
So do we, of course. It's not to say we have no chance in this series. But this is a bad matchup for us. The only team I'd rather play less in probably the entire league is the Bruins.
Like, people are saying just hit the Devils and slow them down and we win. Oh, is that all? You don't think other teams may have thought of that at some point this season? It's hard to do.
Takes longer for a concert. Heard 7-8 hours minimum and with the risk of a long OT, no chance they would try this double. A Knicks then Rangers is possible, but I would think for a play-off game it would be discouraged. Can't see them going Rangers first then Knicks. Yes, Knicks can go to OT, but it is 5 minutes and rarely becomes a "LONG" game.Quickest it can be changed from knicks to rangers is 3 hours I believe, but with playoffs and the fact that OT can last till the game ends, theres no way that they'd overlap a concert with something of that nature.
Either the concert comes first, and the game at night or they change the date of one or the other.
That's a Just Friends reference! Great movie. My lord, what a bunch of weak-minded, wobbly-kneed scaredy cats some of you are. The Rangers are deeper, have more experience, more star power, and a huge edge in the net and you guys are quaking in your Spider Man Underoos over little Jackie Hughes and co? Suck it up, guys. They're from Jersey, they ski in their jeans! Rangers in 6.
It's the Rangers luck is all. Figures that we finally amass actual hockey players up and down the lineup and the rest of the division and conference catches up and aren't going away any time soon either.Best Rangers roster in almost 30 years, arguably the underdog in the first round. Can't make this shit up.
I do not want to see any of these players...
I want to see Leschyshyn
