If the Rangers trade Shesterkin they might as well start over. Trade everyone over 30 for the best offer and rebuild . If they don’t trade him it’s not worth it to fire sale everything .
But if they don't redo their D, it wont matter if it's Shesty or not.

Why wouldn’t Kreider be available when the GM has already singled him out as being on the trade block?

Also, Rempe untouchable? I get that he‘s a fan favorite but I don’t understand why he would be essential to a retool
Kreider was stupidly mentioned by apparently brain dead nyrgm who was trying to send team a message while goosing the market a bit

Kreider not available unless too much to turn down
He is exception, b'c his training keeps him in peak physical condition
will be good next 2-3 yrs before 1-2 yrs tailing off/phasing out
if he gives Rs team friendly deal 1 yr at a time, he should be kept

Rempe is raw and dynamic and provides energy
He has upside and should be playing over Vesey
No one including him is untouchable
Rempe is category of anticipated return = not worth moving

Also for most of games he has played, Rs win
no reason to not keep

track record shows usually I have more hits than misses, so beware of what you ask for, if Rs mgmt ever wakes up and listens to me, instead of continuing to look bad for not doing so, we will all see
Kakko stays (I think he walks in FA)
KAM top $ or I gamble on his potential (He's awful and continues to be. Top dollar for what?)
Fox not listed, moved to induce Zib to VAN (You're trading Fox? While i will agree he's not as special as he's been made out to be, he's probably the smartest player in the league. But intimidating? No. Tough to play against? No. He's the worst skater in the league. But you guys will hang onto him way too far into that contract)
Vesey is blocking Rempe, stupidly; he goes (Rempes time in the league is almost up. He's big, that's it. He "likes" to fight. He's not that good at it. He's a dangerous player, not dynamic. Hits players to hurt not to separate and make a play. Sure Vesey is not much but he's got more value on the ice. Rempe in the gift shop).

You need to redo the D, only a few pieces that can provide a path to win a cup. And while that wint happen paying Igor $12M to play into his later 30s while probably going into a retool at a min (likely a rebuild) is gonna be awful. As I said, I'm all for it!

Are the Rangers thinking re-tool or closer to a rebuild?
What mgmt will actually do is unclear
what most now want, generally, is what I have said for yrs
hard cap/no compliance buy outs means must recycle/repurpose vets into youth on a regular basis, exceptions notwithstanding

To answer yr ?, as that applies here, imo what should be done:

bundle Fox w/Zib at half + next 2 2nds [2027, 2028?]
for JTM + Raty + Juulsen + Forbort + VAM 2025 + 2026 1sts

something around Panarin for Nemec +

then
extended Shesty 5 yrs x 12.2 retained 2m per
KAM
Nemec

for
Byfield + picks

Lindgren/Trouba/Vesey for best offers

faster they start playing youth earlier growing pains will end

how much that is more build than tool or vice versa, is subjective

What would the Rangers want for Kakko?
He is not on the block
anyone can be had for overpayment, but prefer to retain
Cuylle - Chytil/Brodz - KK
or even open to KK at pivot there

so answer would be a signif haul

Reasonable to think he stays if mgmt ditches vets

KAM top $ or I gamble on his potential (He's awful and continues to be. Top dollar for what?)
He's not awful, some posters saying so does not make it so.
He is physically gifted
He has played solid mentally from time to time, but screws up when he overcompensates
So top $ for that, and not to succumb to yr partisan desire to see he is poached for less

What Fox is/can be as a skater is irrelevant, since he's not gonna turn into Bobby Orr. He is a terrif fit for VAN, great top pair partner, contract takes him to like 30, not too late, he is functional + as a skater, and is not gonna become subpar next coupla yrs. Rest of his game is elite mentally, high end otherwise.
As applies here, it is irrelevant. Fox needs to go to have us lose Zib and bring back futures, end of story

Rempe is worth more than Vesey, has mo upside
and the faster the stupid R mgmt yields to me on this, and admit on this I am right and they are wrong, the faster he will develop here in the NHL and add, not subtract
That you criticize him so much is telling
be afraid
be very afraid

First thing is make all the overall improvements I said
Garand w/Quick + Domingue support is fine
we will be thin 1-2 slots at LD but will get thru it till cavalry gets here

As I said, I'm all for it
An archangel in particular does not need the endorsement of his counterpart

KAM has not been good this year but willing to bet he can turn it around. Would hogs + 3rd get it done? Hogs is a very hardworking player.

I expect NYR may say you don’t want wingers but we need to move salary to accomadate KAM, unless NYR is willing to retain.

Would you do any of those deals if you were the Rangers?

That's a rhetorical question. We both know the answer.
