I could see this from the buffalo side but probably not from the isles side. I would guess something a bit lesser than Dobson but Cozens feels like an islander
Replace Dobson with Pelech and it's a start. I'm still not moving Barzal unless the return is going to improve the foward group. Cozens doesn't do it and even with Power, the PP is still a mess.

Buffalo should be looking to fix up their team defense before trying to add another skill guy.

Islanders don't have enough skill guys.

Not sure how these teams could ever match up for something around Barzal.

I don't see Barzal getting moved. He's hurt, and he should take his time coming back. NYI should deal with moving Nelson, and Palmieri. Then they should deal with moving or planning to buy out JGP. They're going to need to have enough of a team in the 2nd have to make decisions on other roster players during the draft or offseason.

Also, trades like these just aren't going to happen.

I agree about defense, but we don't have 2C either.

Does trading Cousins and Power change the all too long losing culture in the Sabres’ core?

Forget about filling the void. Waiving those last 4 players sounds like a magical Christmas gift for Isles fans.
Martin is getting his games and is essentially done once he gets to 1000 or a couple more depending on injuries. Engvall needs to bring what he brought the first few games back after his demotion and he’ll be a solid 3rd liner. Wahlstrom is perfect for that 3HL and well Fasching is just Fasching. Thankfully 3/4 of them are gone after the year. If Roy gets his way, all 4 are gone and he goes on with his choice moving forward.

The Isles don't need a LHD, even a great one. It's the deepest part of our depth chart.

We need goal scoring.

Barzal, Cizikas for Tuch, Ostlund and Zucker

Buffalo gets their centers, and we get scoring depth and a top prospect, with Zucker coming off the books after this season. Isles get cap space to extend Tuch.

Power, Kulich, and Krebs for Barzal and Dobson?

It's a downgrade from Cozens to Kulich but Kulich profiles as a goal scorer.
Isles pass....Again, if the isles want to move both. They would be in separate deals to get max return...We are trading our 2 best players and you guys aren't offering guys like Tuch or Tage...Makes no sense for us

Addition only imo. Teams don't win with young players and too many of the sabres are young. So 1st Ostlund and Byram.

Im looking for a top 4 DEFENSIVE D after that.

What about a package consisting of Barzal + Pulock?

2025/2026 1st
Noah Ostlund
Isak Rosen
Dylan Cozens
Jack Quinn
Konsta Helenius
Maxim Strbak

Would a package consisting of some of these assets work?

No interest in moving Pulock out. Pelech at this point is the guy bordering odd man out towards an upgrade. As for the pieces, not interested in anything really here outside of Helenius and the 2025 1st (unprotected). Realistically Peterka is the roster player I want back if the Isles are moving someone such as Barzal. Moving out Mat would mean they need to find another offensive threat and Cozens/Quinn aren’t it at the moment and the prospects are all magic beans realistically.

I completely understand. As an outsider, the islanders are a hard team to gauge for me.

Pulock I had to take a shot at because he’s a solid RHD, definitley way more of what the Sabres would be looking for as opposed to Dobson but I imagined he would either be off the table completely or one of the more expensive targets.

Thanks

This is the type of deal that I am afraid Adams would make...

This is i insanely bad value for Sabres.

The Isles have pieces that are appealing but somehow not appealing enough to offer a return of what the Islanders are truly lacking. Ideally they’re missing that piece to put with the Barzal/Horvat duo that can be the other lethal trigger man. That’s why I’m essentially asking for a kings ransom if Barzal was moved. Moving him out with no real return of equal depth is a tough one. The isles need more of a retool than a rebuild like everyone is pushing.

I’ve seen terrible takes on both Nelson and Palmieri claiming age has essentially caught up to both yet Brock outscored 9m man Jake Guentzel the past 3 seasons and can play a quality 200 foot game. Palmieri plays a gritty style and has an extremely good release.
