A study came out in like 2008 or something that says pulling the goalie is the greatest idea ever and coaches should be doing it with 5 minutes left.

This is an old study and I would like it revisited. It doesn't make sense if you look at expected goals.

You're going from a 5v5 to a 6v5 which increases your expected goals rate by like 5-15%, and in exchange, you're increasing the other team's expected goals rate by like 1,000%

Well this got out of hand.. Not our defenses best game. Smith will be in next and hopefully we find a way to sit D.D. he's mediocre

The hawks may be good but that doesn’t mean they didn’t play horribly. Disgusting game. Onto the next
It wasn't a well played game by either team. It was very wide open with lots of mistakes. The fact that the Hawks were not tight does not absolve the Rangers of being simply awful defending their net. They showed up awfully in that regard. The forwards have some blame, but way less than the defensemen. Simple.

I'm not even mad about the loss to be honest. I think it probably has more to do with how releaved and proud of the boys for going on that 6 game winning streak to stop most of us from walking off the ledge. than any one or two things that caused us to lose tonight.

I'll be alot more concerned if we collapse on Friday vs Columbus like we did tonight. It's definitely not just Kampfer's fault who was horrible but so was McDonagh and Shattenkirk on the back end as well as they were was just as bad but one would think Brenden Smith will be brought out from the mothballs and get some love from AV.

Oh and not sure who said it but that friggen goal song in Chicago was definitely played longer than normal just to annoy and troll you and I.....lol

Staal and Kampfer were on the ice for like ten odd man rushes against, but because the odd man rushes against McDonagh and Shattenkirk went in, it's their fault.

Our bottom pair got absolutely curb-stomped tonight but nobody will talk about it.
It was being talked about all game. Especially in the second when they couldn't get off the ice for what seemed like 3 minutes because of the long change

Yeah, but there's little risk because your odds of winning the game being down late in the 3rd are low. Who cares if you lose by 2 or 3 instead of 1 or 2? The only thing that matters is increasing the chances of a goal

Bit of a reality check game tonight. If the PP was clicking the way it had been the last half-dozen games, this game is probably over long before the end of the 2nd. Instead, the team gets rolled hard in the 2nd and pucks start pouring in during the 3rd.

Hank was the lone reason the 2nd period wasn't 4-1 Hawks. Unfortunately he was also the reason it ended up 1-1. Great play up until that point, but that goal definitely set the tone for the awful start in the 3rd.

We'll see how the team responds moving forward. I expect to see Smith back in the lineup next game, but he's not going to solve the problems with this team's play in it's own end.

This game is on Hank and Shatty. They have themselves to blame.

Mediocre is being very very kind.
Move Miller to center(and i prefer miller at wing) bring up lettieri I don't care he's not very good anymore.

Hawks looked at how we play. Didn't let us have space on the Powerplay, and drove to the net.

Adjustment and playing to your opponents weaknesses. Maybe one day we'll have a coach whose familiar with those concepts.
And no, randomly mixing up defense pairs in the final 10 minutes isn't a smart adjustment.

Yes, I noticed the good job they did. Maybe they are having troubles as a team lately but they interrupted the Rangers pretty well with pressure and good sticks.

It was talked about in the GDT...
But how much of it is actually their fault? Kampfer shouldn't be playing 15 minutes on an NHL team for 7 straight games unless there's a serious injury problem and neither he nor Staal should be matched up against a line with Patrick Kane on it with any kind of regularity, regardless of who has last change.
They were terrible, but they weren't really put in a position where you'd expect them to succeed

Well that turned into a shit show. Staal and Kampfer in the second period....they stunk. After those two early goals in the third that was enough for me. Maybe I pull the plug too early sometimes but giving up three goals in about 3-4 minutes pretty much did it.
