The Hank 0-11 stat is horrific. People advocating that it's just a reflection of the team, and not one individual, are missing a key component. Hank is part of the team - he's playing this poorly too.
3.27 GA in those 11 games. He's barely giving us a chance to win. Mason finally stood on his head. For all the talk from announcers since he's been playing about him playing great, tonight was the first game that he played unbelievably well. He came to play, Henrik did not.
Henrik's a great goalie, but i'm tired of everyone acting like he's immune to criticism. He was simply outplayed by a goalie far worse than him. And that is simply unacceptable when considering their salaries.
Luckily, in elimination games, he tends to have the reverse success. Hopefully, he finds that tomorrow rather than what he had tonight.
As for other things I saw, McDonagh is having a brutal series. His heart may be in it, but his head clearly is not. His positioning and decision making has been detrimental. Girardi had his first bad playoff game in a long time. He really **** the bed there a couple of times. Stralman had a ****ing awful game too. I'd suggest even putting in Diaz there, to not only have a fresher, faster player with better offensive instincts... but to help this ailing powerplay too. It has looked miserable these last 4 games. Miserable.
Speaking of the powerplay, Richards should be banned from being allowed to enter the ice during those 2 minutes. Some of the worst decision making i've seen in a long time. And he simply does not have the speed to enter the zone and make a play anymore. Brassard and Pouloit have been underwhelming. Pouloit makes some really idiotic plays. Brassard just hasn't been playing to his playing standard that he showed us he could reach during the regular season.
Finally, the obvious, Rick Nash. I'm not gonna blame him. I think Vigneault put him in a position to fail on the line he is on right now. He's not a natural LW and he's a player that succeeds with other linemates who attack the net and open up a lot of ice for him. St. Louis and Stepan don't do that. Nash has played well for having to be put in this situation. Kept many plays alive, made some great passes, but he's not being optimized, and that is entirely on AV.
Stay disciplined tomorrow. Play smart. Play passionate. Send them home and make them hurt where it counts... not random fights with Adam Hall and Wayne Simmonds. Believe.
