I'm disheartened by their performance and will be pessimistic in the next game. I don't know what to expect.

Feel the exact same way. Well at least beating the Pens was fun.

Thursday is a must win and if this team makes it to the finals and wants even the slightest chance of winning the cup they can't play like this against LA/Chicago.

My fear all along was that the league wanted Montreal in the finals. The Rangers can't win playing 7 on 6 with most of the calls going the Habs way. Tonight's game makes a good case for this.

I really hope I'm wrong though...Rangers could come out of the gate fast next game and send the Habs golfing. But I have thoughts.....

This game was a carbon copy of Game 5 of the 1994 finals.

Whole world expected a closeout. Vancouver races to a 3-0 lead. Rangers tie it up 3-3, and seconds after Mess tied it Dave Babych scored a horrible goal and the floodgates opened. Richter and Leetch were horrendous that night.

Game 6 will be a cleaner game. This was an utterly sloppy game.

Only problem is that team had Messier and Leetch. Who do we have, Nash and Staal.

They either win 6 or don't bother trying on 7.

Only thing is, this game wasn't a loss because of the refs. We played like ****.

3 worst efforts of the playoffs, game 6 at Philly, came back strong in game 7. Game 4 vs Pitt, came back strong in game 5. Lets see if they can do the same here Thursday night.

First two games: All NYR

Next 3: Game 3 was close, so was Game 4, and we almost got blown out tonight if it wasn't for tying it up there.

I don't know, Games 1 and 2 were a long time ago. Next 3 tell a different story. Whether it's the Rangers losing their composure or refs calling a tighter game or whatever philosophy you want to buy in, the Rangers are not playing like they were in 1 and 2. Taking way too many dumb penalties, whether MTL is diving or not. They are losing their composure out there, and that's a major problem in my eyes.

Moore is going to be suspended for the rest of the series. Diaz is going to have to play Game 6 and if necessary, a Game 7. Going to be tough for a guy to jump into an intense series like this.

Staal and Girardi have got to be better. They have both just been awful both offensively and defensively. All of Staal'ls shots get blocked. Both have had their fair share of defensive lapses this series, and that has to stop now. Defense has to tighten up here.

Offensively, we have to stop with the passive BS. Get pucks on goal. This guy isn't Patrick Roy. He didn't look good tonight, but we didn't test him enough. Stop sending passes into traffic where the pass was never going to get through, and start shooting. Going to need to shoot if they want to score. Way too many shots passed up for extremely questionable passes tonight into extreme traffic. Someone has to take this thing by the horns and start throwing everything on net. Be selfish. Obviously, passing is important, but when they are sending passes into traffic when they could be throwing shots on a goalie who was shaky tonight, that's where it has to end.

Maintain composure, play better defense, and shoot more.

Completely agree. After Game 2, Montreal started to try to hurt Rangers. Instead of turning the other cheek and scoring on the PP, we got involved in payback, playing their game.

And yes, stop looking for the perfect pass and SHOOT THE **** PUCK.

Habs were desperate. We weren't. It's human nature. Similar game in some ways to GM 6 vs PHI. Brush it off, regroup, focus on the next one.

Exactly.

It's all or nothing thursday. If we can't beat Montreal on our home ice, against their 3rd string goalie, with one win to get us to the SCF, then we don't deserve to go.

that was the story of the boston series. All shots from the outside. No one got to the net. Boston lost.

Same thing here. New York's shots are from the outside. Montreal isn't letting them in close. So naturally, the habs goalies look like superstars, because even though the majority of their saves are routine, they're making so many of them. So when you have 50 routine saves a night that are from the outside, of course you look great. Happened all round 2, and they won, and happening here again, and really looking like they'll pull this one off too. What will it take to put these guys away. Hate to say it, but it looks like we'll have to wait until the finals to finally put them to rest.

Moore's penalty was just the ****ing cherry on an already stupidly made cake of a game.

Problem will be that Moore will be suspended, as he's a Ranger, not a Canadien.

Refs have been completely one-sided. Not the reason we lost this game, but that's a fact.

Prust was suspended. Should Moore be spared because he is a Ranger? That was not a good hit.

Please get Girardi off the power play.

Stralman and Klein have played well, but they need to put the puck on goal.

Nice of Nash to show up. Hope he steps it up even more in Game 6. If he does, we'll win.

Guys who need to play better : Pouliot, Richards

Yeah, but at some point, this mentality will catch up with the Rangers. The "Oh, there's always next game in NY. We'll finish them out there" thought process. They have to play like there isn't a next game. Like it's a Game 7 every single time they hit that ice. They need to match MTL's intensity, and in fact, exceed it. I don't care if you're up 3-0 or up 3-2, I really don't care. If you give them that little glimmer of hope, it will eventually come back to bite. I'm hoping it's not this series that is happens, but it's something that frightens me.

Everyone knows Pouliot is a streaky player that's just as likely to score one as he's likely to contribute zero, but really surprised at how invisible MZA has been the past few games.

His line has given him nothing to work with, but I'd say his linemates are struggling just as much due to his lack of any sort of production.
