Justin Williams=clutch.... Where can we get one like him. What a shot...prime time player

Nash is trying to do too much?!?!?

LMFAO.

Yeah he is trying to bully his way into the slot while simultaneously looking for an optimal shooting angle. He tries to create plays out of gaps. Which is not a bad idea but he does it too often. Step doesn't help either because when he gets the puck he doesn't really set anyone up on the cycle.

Blow a 2-0 lead and then manage 5 shots TOTAL in the 3rd AND the OT combined..

Wow..just wow..

Rarely you win anything when you do that..

No, it doesn't excuse him. But, its a contributing factor. That isn't entirely Steps fault. That isn't entirely Nash's fault. That is Sathers.

Usually I'd be all over the anti-Sather parade. But we are in the SCF after all. The team, as a whole, has had a great playoff run so far. Rick Nash gets paid primarily to produce offense, and he has failed at that. Hagelin plays with Beaver, and he's managed 7 goals.

That 3 on 1 by Nash was something. 7.8 mil. Hags speed is something else, wish he would've won it there for us. Tough loss. Team needs to be better, and for as bad as we played we had a chance to win. Tough chances on Quick please, Regroup.

Your insight is wonderful.

The role of defenseman in that scenario is not to abandon your partner when he has three forecheckers bearing down.

You don't join the rush without a wing covering your defensive assignment in your end.

So your definition of "bearing down" is them being 20+ feet away, making no advancements towards Girardi?

Got it. No wonder you feel that way.

I praise Girardi plenty, when he does something he should be praised about. Unfortunately, nothing of that sort happened tonight.

Twist it around? He fell, and instead of making the safe play of throwing the puck behind the net, he made the stupid play of trying to pass it up the middle. You're on your knees. You don't have much balance. You don't have much strength to get a decent pass off. And yet somehow, if you're Dan Girardi, you try to thread the needle with a pass up the middle, because hey, miracles happen. He needs to make the easy/safe play there, and throw it behind the net. That's all he had to do. And even of the Kings get to it first, by then him and McD would be able to get back into the play. Instead of this, he gives the Kings a 3 on 0 by passing them the puck.

McDonagh would not have gotten to the puck first if Girardi threw it behind the net. I suggest watching the replay. His options were minimal at that point.

Aside from the Girardi turnover I didn't think the Rangers played bad in OT. Obviously 3rd was not good, but I don't think this kings team is as great as I thought they were coming in. Don't get me wrong, they're still a very good team, but I think we can hang in this series. But man does it suck to blow that 2 goal lead we had..

It was a bad play. Undeniable. Should have ate the puck and delayed for support. But if you think the fact that he was left alone in the defensive zone is acceptable -- 3 LA Kings between him and the next Ranger -- then you're beyond hope. McD ****ed it up there too by jumping the gun on joining a non-existent rush.

Totally agree. You take care of your own end first, then counter. Girardi fell and made a bad decision, granted. That still doesn't excuse there being ZERO support. You can go into transition when you are dead sure the puck is out. But McDonagh was ahead of himself before he should have been. And I can't even watch it again, but who was it, Pouliot, who just completely abandoned the zone and let Williams walk in?

Also, can we at least get a freakin' shot on an odd man rush at least once in these playoffs?!

Moore will be back next game. I'm not labelling him as a difference maker, but I thought I saw better play from Diaz in the regular season. Perhaps I expected too much from Diaz. I am in no way faulting him, and I never thought I would be waiting for Moore's return, but I am.

Oh well, that's hardly a core issue, just me thinking out loud.

Yeah, Diaz isn't playing another game. Moore will play from here on out. It will be interesting to see what happens to Staal though. He can't handle 2nd pairing any more. AV needs to start giving him more protected minutes as a third pair.
