The moves in the off season were good long term moves. We couldn't afford Stepan at 6.5 and a NMC and Giradi in AV's system was a trainwreck. I can see next year being better with additions of Andersson, Chytil, and ADA/Graves. That, of course, is assuming AV is gone.

This team may need a new voice but please lets not Talk about the dark ages...Competitive??? i never witness more overpaid fat cats in my life. How many coaches did the team go thru??? I've been watching for 30 plus years now and no era was bad as that. None. People comparing this to that? Multiply times 5000 then miss the playoffs and go thru 4 or 5 coaches then maybe you will be at what was experienced from 98-2004

And maybe the additions of Shattenkirk and Smith 2010-2016 in an actual system.

If u watch the most of the Rangers game this season - we`ve struggled a lot especially with line chemistry 5v5, and we`ve played over 40 games!
Kreider is out maybe next two-three months - perhaps rest of the season and it looks grim @MattBarzal , because he was part of the only line working so far this season KZB.
The quality at times is horrendous, they can barely play 1 simple pass and they sometimes miss on their own player even when they are not under pressure - so the execution with puck has been abysmal, and that happen way too often this particular season. I`m not even talking about our defense.

The difference between this and 98-04 is we have a generational goaltender instead of a cooked-and-needing-to-retire Mike Richter and Mike Dunham. That's it. That's the only difference.

Yes you can. Why did Maloney Valiquette who are both former players, as well as McDonough all say in their interviews and lost game comments the team needs emotion and a physical spark. Do you know more than they do being they’ve lived it?
 
I can respect what Gorton did in the offseason. He tried to take a more analytical approach. But it doesn't matter because his demagogue coach literally tries to have bad analytics because they go against the analytics he made up to prove himself right.

Not dismissing said coach is 100% on Gorton and doesn't instill confidence.

Would you prefer the captain of the team not say anything? Maybe he could keep his head buried in the sand, act like it’s not a big deal. Would that be better?

Besides allowing a lot of entries, what is your evidence that this is true and done purposefully?

The problems are different.

The Dark Ages teams had roster problems. This team has a coaching problem.

The only difference between the results is goaltending. This is a bottom 5 team in the NHL with average goaltending.

They would have like 10 wins with Mike Dunham.

I'm ready to trade him. Extend him another 6 to 7 years and that contract becomes more of a disaster than Staal's.

I think Mika can find good form again. Getting a full season out of him is probably a pipe dream though. He doesn't just come back from injury ready to go again, he has a resetting process.

Yes the coaches were phenomenal on those teams lol how many coaches did they go thru? Those teams had so many things wrong on so many levels from the GM to the coach to the roster. Its not even close. They were overpaid and barely showed up to play. From top to bottom it was a black hole.
This Roster isn't one thats good enough to win the cup I don't care who the coach is.
Get rid of AV but bring in a coach thats gonna continue developing whatever young talent we have. Its not only about systems

Now, if I miss a game, I miss it. I couldn't care less. This team is that bad.

I know we disagree on a lot of things, but I’m with ya on this dude. I spent the afternoon at a Dunkin Donuts with my girlfriend’s sister instead of watching this.

They're like 8-36 with Dunham in goal.
