Would it be crazy to consider trading for fields and drafting harrison jr. at #2
Yes! lol. Fields is not good enough. Plus you have to pick up his 5th year option (~23M) next year, and then give him a long term contract. He’s not worth it, I’d almost rather stick with Howell if we go that route.

But we won’t. QBs are going 1, 2.

Watched a couple of Williams early games this year. Only YT vides for Maye. I think for some Williams was the top guy for so long it becomes natural to start getting a little bullish or to pick some holes. Maybe it is just me but feels like Maye is a bit less of a gamble with the pro size and he's pretty mobile himself. Admittedly probably still scared from RG3 so probably biased against lighter frames.

Watching Josh Harris’ presser in the background as I work on some stuff. A few things that caught my attention:

- Wants this search to be “rapid but thorough.” Wants a Head of Football Ops in place ASAP.
- That said, while they want to want to have a Head of Football Ops in place to help fill the other positions, they will move on GM and HC candidates quickly if need be because they want the best people and they’re not in total control of the timeline. “We want the best people and the best people are usually very sought after.”
- On name change/rebrand, the focus is “on sports” right now meaning they need to get the team structure and roster right. His partners right now are working on an “investment package” into the fan experience at FedEx and are actively working on securing their new home. They will revisit the name and brand at some point but it’s not the main focus right now.
- Thinks Washington is an extremely attractive destination. New coach and leadership will get to build this thing basically from scratch and they’ll have every resource they need to be successful.
- Doesn’t want to cut corners. Thinks they can turn it around quickly but they want to build something sustainable and be competing for a championship every season. He won’t make rash decisions for short term gain.

Generally speaking, he sounded like you wanted him to sound. He sounded in control and aware of the task in front of him. Very encouraging.

I think the Sam Howell era is at an end…

I think Sam may go on to have a solid NFL backup QB career, maybe a few chances to start, but I think his ceiling is bottom tier starter, not franchise QB. He has a lot of tools and clear toughness, but running an NFL offense, making rapid decisions, doesn't seem to be part of his overall toolkit.

I'm not sure they shouldn't be keeping him here as a backup, his contract is cheap and he may still have some trade value if we play it right. He can't demand a trade yet, he's not at that level. Keep him while he's still cheap.

I think Maye is bigger, stronger, and runs a pro offense better, slightly bigger and more accurate arm. Maye's weakness seems easily correctable - mostly footwork. He looks a lot like Josh Allen to me.

The discord is keeping a good running tally of who's been approached. Though they need to add MacDonald still. I would consider this a very good list.

Sign me up for johnson or macdonald at HC

Shouldn’t be too hard to coax them over here with the promise of a fresh dynamic rookie qb for them to mold either. We’re in a great spot

Danbag also sounded right at first, but unlike Danbag Harris' group has actually turned two wallowing teams around. I can't remember what it's like to feel like games for the team matter, rather than watching individuals and rooting for them because I know the team won't do anything overall.

I assume the Warriors GM is to clear out the old Danbag culture/environment and Spielman is for football personnel. Culture and competency are the two major obvious problems, so there's two guys to attack each.

Kinda curious that they are requesting HC interviews without a GM on board and making these choices. Maybe they are just making requests, but this needs to be the new GM who does the HC hiring. They need to be a symbiotic pair, not forced upon each other like we've done in the past.

Harris said in his presser today that ideally a GM is brought on board and that person finds a coach but he also acknowledged they’re not the only team looking for a coach and that they need to be able to move quickly to get their guy if need be. Also, the owner and his group are obviously going to want to meet with the GMs final candidates so this just gets that out of the way.

Owners hire Head Coaches....GM's recommend....

This is the formality of it, but the GM cannot recommend anything if the HC is already hired, it becomes an arranged marriage. I just hope we don't Zorn this up because they feel rushed.

See above. I just hope they don't make a fundamental mistake because they feel rushed. The GM and HC need to be entirely aligned and hiring the HC before the GM means they need to fit the GM into the HC's approach - I think this is a less than ideal approach and history tends to agree. It means fewer GMs would be willing to come work where they had effectively no input on the HC selection.
