Unless there's quotes actively confirming Ron told EB to run more I see no reason to believe that. He has always said he is as hands off as he can be with his assistants
EB once called 55 pass plays in a row. Yeah I think RR told him to run the ball.

I like Jon Allen.

The offense is ranked 22nd in the league. That isn’t even top half of the league. And his play calling, defend that please. Or try.
They’re 15th in points per game which includes the three points vs Buffalo and 16th in passing yards/game.

Care to guess where the defense is ranked? To save you the time they are ranked 30th in points against/game, ahead of only Denver and Carolina. 27th in passing yards against/game. 23rd in rushing yards against/game. 29th in total yards against/game.

EB has been here for seven games with a fifth round pick as his QB. Ron and Jack have been coaching here for 58 games and half their defense is first round picks. Pretty easy choice for me who gets more runway to try and find their footing.

Honestly what are your arguments for keeping Ron and Jack?

Especially since RR has apparently checked out...

Ron let him run 55 pass plays in a row, and he still calls a minimum of run plays, and Ron has repeatedly said he prefers to be just let his assistants run their own show without his input. Because they're adult professionals or something. I don't buy speculation that he's ordering EB around based on slight adjustments.

Also, Allen had some interview that was great. Talking about his offseason travels with his girlfriend, and how he wasn't worried about playing Denver because she made him haul his hefty ass all the way up and down the Himalayas, so Denver is nothing. It was great stuff.

Then when asked about everyone who didn't do that, he made it clear the altitude is no excuse. They are professionals paid a lot of money to figure it out and deal with it; it's not excuse.

Allen is an absolute keeper.

Can't stick to the run game when you're down 2TDs all the time

Jackson of DEN just got kicked out of the game for yet another dirty hit to the head. This is the guy that laid out Thomas and someone else earlier in the season. He needs to be booted from the league for at least a few games.

I have no arguments for keeping any of the coaches. But what does firing the HC accomplish? Put a very green OC in charge of the entire team? Is EB going to continue calling the offensive plays? Who runs the defense? How is that going to impact all of the 1st and 2nd year players? Not just the QB.

Things like this sound good at first but when you look into the consequences of a move like this it doesn’t sound as good. At least to me.

RR is what he is. An average NFL HC. But he isn’t a Jim Zorn or Jay Gruden. He coached a team to the SB. That’s a big deal. And his players respect him. No sign of him losing the locker room. Firing a respected coach can backfire.

So for those and other reasons I don’t think RR should be fired. If any coach should be sacrificed it’s JDR. Clearly. His squad has underachieved massively. But he’s the only one. Unless RR loses the locker room.

Rivera would have to fire JDR and give up the FO side. Would he?

Well, for one thing, it clears a bit of the old stink out of the room and lets guys like Allen know that it's not going to be many more years of the same shit if they can help it, so that.

Also, everyone in the world (including Ron) knows RR is a lame duck, just coaching out the string. I can’t imagine that engenders much respect in the locker room at this point. I mean, pro athletes should have pride in themselves, but it’s gotta be a strange situation knowing Harris & Magic will be cleaning house.

Getting rid of RR sooner puts the players on notice that new ownership is evaluating everyone, and the rest of the season doesn’t have to be a total wash.

They also needed to win today because being 4-3 is better than 3-4 going into Eagles week. You can go 4-4 after playing the Eagles. 3-5 looks worse. And that's about the halfway mark. After that, they have a pretty tough second half. NE doesn't look like a pushover despite being a 2 win team. Jets are still going to give Washington fits even with Wilson. Niners are unbeatable right now and they've yet to play Dallas

Hard to see this team not imploding over the next three months if they don’t string together a few wins soon.

Make Allen an owner.

"Lack of attention to detail" is all on coaches. Completely. The defense always starts games looking like they've never seen their opponent play before. The only reason they get more respectable as games go on is the D line eventually grinding down their opposition.

Yeah they will ride this out. If their record is abysmal it’ll help the incoming braintrust after the housecleaning. EBs audition is already well underway.

And Jon Allen has been on the field those seven years. If you’re that sick of it, be a difference in the locker room and make the players around you better.

Honestly I don’t want to hear anything from any coach or players, their words are falling on def ears

They should bring Gregg Williams back to run the defense.

Not sure what to do about the offense. Not much you can do without investing in the line.

Howell was bad yesterday but Im glad he is still healthy and playing.

He needs to get these bad games under his belt and out of the way. Learn from them.

I just hope he stays healthy bc the Sam we see end of the year should be a good bit better bc of what he is going through currently.

Bad football by both teams yesterday .. hard to watch.

I'm not sure. I could see it going either way. He could come out stronger, or it could ruin him.

He played awful against Buffalo and responded well the next week against Philadelphia. He’s had more good games than bad and more good moments than bad. He’s still showing promise to me and he seemingly responds well to adversity. He’s about what I expected him to look like this year, minus taking all the sacks… even with as bad our as OL looked I didn’t think it would be this bad. And before mentioning that Sam is responsible for some of those sacks, which is true, I’ll note that they can’t run the ball for shit either which makes pass pro all the more difficult.
