like you said, at this point it really doesn't matter. i just hate the notion that 9 people that no one voted for has such control over the entire country; and these people are appointed for life.
For me, appointed for life needs to change. Having people rooting for a justice to die so their party's president can appoint the replacement is horrid. Not to mention how competent are some of them in the final stages of their lives. Life spans have increased so much since the Constitution was written that there is a totally different age dynamic now.

Is the road to that bench largely political? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around a supreme court justice being incompetent.
Trump selected Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Coney Barrett from a pre-approved Federalist Society list. And Gorsuch was confirmed because Mitch McConnell refused to even give Merrick Garland a hearing, much less a senate vote nine months before the 2016 presidential election because he said the people must decide, but rushed through Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation less than two months before the 2020 election while Americans were already voting. So the road to the bench has become largely political.

On a side note, I had no idea Neil Gorsuch's mother was Anne McGill Buford. That's a pretty strong right-wing pedigree.

Sorry about that, I always hate when someone spoils something to me.
But not sure this spoils anything, part of it was even in the trailer

I thought it's silly before I started watching and found myself really liking it.
Ofc tastes differ
Just messing with you, lol

Interesting coincidence. I've really enjoyed the Narcos franchise in Netflix and just finished they latest season of Mexico. I've always been reading up on Wikipedia and googling about how much was real and how the drug lords ended up while watching the show.

So I just went back to reading about what happened to Rafa Quintero again who appeared in the first season of Narcos Mexico and he was actually finally caught (reported) today like 3 hours ago! That's pretty wild. And it was already updated in Wikipedia although at many parts he was still described as a fugitive there but props to Wikipedia community as well.

Short question: NHL.com prohibits getting Adidas jerseys to Europe nowadays for whatever reasons. Could anybody here hook me up so that I order an authentic Zegras alternate jersey, have it sent to your address and then pay you off for sending it to me in Europe? PM, please. Thanks!

Isn't the NHL being sued because the "authentic" jerseys are not really authentic in that they are the same as the player-worn jerseys? I remember the authentic CCM jerseys were exactly the same, but when Reebok won the contract, they stopped selling the real jerseys to fans because of the cost.

Edit: It's the Adidas "authentic" jerseys that are in question, not Reebok.

So we just had a promo friendly against our club's inaugural team and I hit the post with a Zegras-style lacrosse move. If you read this, Z: if you're ever in Europe, can you teach me how to finish the move?

So Germany still decides not to re-open nuclear power plants despite the technical ability to do so within three months. Based simply on the ideology of the government. All the while it is expected that most households will have to pay up to 5,000€ extra for electricity and gas-powered heating this winter due to our power shortage.

I never followed too much but Germany's plan to shut down all nuclear plants sounded very bizarre in the first place. OT in OT but I've actually visited a nuclear plant in Germany, somewhere not too far from Hamburg.

I also received a notice from my electric company that they're going to over quadruple my bill starting October. The great thing is that their new offer is still cheap compared to anything available in the market right now. It's gonna be a cold winter for many around here as people are forced to adjust inside temperatures closer to 15 degrees.

I on the other hand, as my contact is for a total consumption for a full year and I struggle to even fulfill my monthly quota every month, I guess I can hold sauna parties for everyone else. No beer service however as beer money (+everything else) is paying the bills now.

California just extended the active life of its only nuclear power plant (Diablo Canyon) for another five years, so it will close in 2030, not 2025. The plant is key to keeping the power going during the summer heat until more renewable power sources can be developed.

I know that I am going to hate getting my power bill for the August/September period. It has been so hot, even here in Newport Beach, for the past several days that my air conditioning has been running far more than usual. But it is going to nothing like the gas/electricity increases that I read about in Europe.

Newport hit a record high of like 97 degrees if I'm not mistaken. That's just wild!
