I really dont get the appeal with the Orange Oiler jersey.

This jersey dates back to the 'Alberta Oilers' of the early WHA era.
Classic.

Our current retro jerseys aren't retro enough. So we need even more retroier retro jerseys.

The trick I think is making it so the orange isn't too damn bright, lol.

But yeah seeing as how it's Rexall's final year and they need to start cashing in on the McMarketing bonanza, a new third was not unexpected.

Probably in a few years we'll see the dark blues/copper return too.

I love these but they need more contrast between the numbers and the stripes. Color/pbp guys sitting up high would might have trouble reading a white number on a 2/3 white background.

My favorite by far is the blue with all the orange. Third jerseys should be ostentatious.

Whatever it is, I just don't want it to be black + some colour. That's such a tired design across all leagues.

You know, I can't knock those of you who dislike bringing the WHA jerseys back. I want to like it, myself. But it just seems like they're milking the McDavid cow. It doesn't feel special like the copper/blue, MacFarlane or blue/orange relaunch.

I guess seeing it on McDavid tomorrow will be polarizing.

id be more into this deeper orange/red than the other orange. maybe during the 2000s when i wanted gross colors for everything id back the OKC orange.

i really just want to see them do well in the "throw back" colors once again haha

I'm excited, we haven't had a major change in jerseys since the McFarlan 3rd jersey. I'd like if the orange was more of a copper, but either way I'm excited. It's time for some change.

Maybe someone with a marketing degree could correct me here, but wouldn't it be smarter to wait a year to release new jerseys? Everyone who buys jerseys is going to run out and get a McDavid jersey as soon as he's drafted anyway. If they waited a year those people will probably buy another one in orange. So they'd be more likely to sell two McDavid's as opposed to one.

Yeah I really thought the original plan would be to release the jersey with the new arena. Or maybe, this is a one year thing to commemorate the last year in Rexal, and they'll release another new jersey next year. That wouldn't shock me actually.

Probably because they also want to honor Rexall/Northlands final year, so having the original Alberta Oilers jerseys come back for that makes sense.

Beyond that, who's to say they aren't already thinking about yet another jersey variant coming in 2-3 years?

Pittsburgh had the baby blue, then the reverse version of that (navy blue) soon after getting Crosby.
