Which is why I wasn't really happy with the extension, I'll be pretty pissed if Sullivan shakes loose from Pittsburgh and we can't get him because of the extension.

Mercer is not playing well, but it's like 6 games.

I find it hard to believe that these few games are the true representation of him as a hockey player vs the rest of his career to date.

Same with Siegs and Marino.

Players go through rough patches, it happens.

They had all summer to acquire an NHL-level goalie. They're not going anywhere without one.

Vanecek is an NHL level goalie. Just not a a particularly good one. An okay one.

Schmid may or may not be one.

There’s lots of bad goalies in the league right now. Look at the Capitals behind Kuemper. There’s more AHL goalies with full time roles than ever.

I don’t think finding a particularly good goalie is as easy as you think right now.

Too sloppy defensively. Some of that is expected with the changes, but they need goaltending to bail them out of some mistakes. Don’t need them to be perfect, they have the offense to make up, but have to give them a chance.

And the PK is f***ing awful. As good as the PP the PK is bad. Even the first one they killed off they spent two minutes in the zone.

By the end of the third they looked gassed on the back to back and having to try and come back tonight.

Awful loss and should be a wake up call.

I don't know how people are blaming the goaltending, Our team defense right now has been dreadful since game 1 and has been constantly bleeding dangerous chances against everyone. The only game they've reliably controlled possession was yesterday's Montreal game, every other game so far has been them relying on their playmakers to make up for their lack of consistency.

Agree. I said earlier in the game we might be playing too fast and need more structure.

Gross gross effort. Amazing how much this team misses a player like Ryan Graves, someone who is good at actually defending. I am starting to worry that we are turning into Edmonton East. Where is the structure in the defensive zone? How are we bleeding high danger chance after high danger chance?

Also would be nice for one of our goalies to step up and keep this team in games.

Frustrating night losing to a team we have no business losing to.

Idk how you could’ve watched Schmid and not put quite bit of this game on him. Also the only reason the Isles game even went to OT was Schmid sucking.
