Vitek needs the rope cut at this point.

Yeah, Daws let in a couple of weak ones tonight, particularly later on in the game, but at least he faced 45 shots or something.

This is what Vitek normally looks like when facing 32-35 shots.

I mean, Vitek almost lost us last night's game against a team that had almost no chances. He probably had a good chance at a shutout last night.

We don't have anybody better to replace him with, but you can't defend him this year. He's been awful.

Losing him doesn't make us better, but having him this year doesn't make us better either.

He's up there with Vitek for biggest turd and negative on the team this year.

I agree I have no problem bringing Gibson in I think he’s the best out of the bad options out there. Face it who is realistically going to be there in the summer time anyway? Another teams unknown aka Vitek 2.0?

I think those of you that want to trade for a goalie are completely nuts. There's no one available that's gonna make a difference playing behind this team, and if such a goalie were somehow available, it would be a significant cost that would probably hurt long-tern.

What this team needs first is a real system that is more conservative in the DZ and gives proper support to the D-men for transitioning the puck out of the zone. Not this stupid high risk, low reward garbage with two guys abandoning the slot in favor of engaging in a 50/50 board battle while the forwards blow the zone.

It's going to put more on Luke and Bahl's plates, and more time for Smith...yay.

I'm done with trading for a goalie. I never really did wanna trade for one this season.

I just wanna see less Vitek at this point. That's all. More Daws, more Schmid maybe. Much less Vitek. He's been the worst of any of them and he's gotten a rope only shorter than 1995-2010 Brodeur. I've been asking just to stop playing him so much since November.

That's why I say. It doesn't make us better, but he certainly wasn't doing anything to make us better either.

You got guys overachieving given the injuries.

I believe Palat or Meier will be back by the next game and probably the other within a few.

Mercer is good but he’s not a top tier guy in the class of Jack or Meier or Hamilton. We are missing 3 of our top 5 players. Bratt and Nico remain.

Oddly VV has a decent record. Daws effort tonight was good all things considered.

Huh? I'm just making a general point. The Devils have largely not controlled play this season and have had to scratch and claw for their wins all season. Constantly playing from behind and defending because you don't have possession...that kind of stuff is gonna lead to guys getting hurt.

I think an unknown Vitek 2.0 is better than real Vitek at this point.

Vitek is completely flushed on this team. He's mentally broken here. The demons cannot be exorcised out of him until he's the f*** off this team.

I've been saying that since November and that's how it is.

There was no coming back from the playoffs he had last year. I honestly thought he deserved a chance to come back from it, but that clearly broke him. There's no coming back from that. Not on this team.

I wouldn't be surprised if he went somewhere else and had a career year next season, but it won't happen if he stays here.

This team when healthy and average goaltending can do some damage. They had it last year and played amazing. This year from game 1 they have gotten shit goaltending and its reflected on the ice.

There ain’t going to be any goalie available in the summer that isn’t available now so you just punt on a playoff run because there is no way in hell even if ruff is fired they bring back Vitek so they will have a new starting goalie

For as shitty as they played, they did score 4 tonight. There is enough talent to still be able to white knuckle games if they can get saves. And my guess is some players will be back.

The goalie option have been discussed as nauseum. They don’t need to get a great goalie, just go out and get a guy having a good year.
