This team when healthy and average goaltending can do some damage. They had it last year and played amazing. This year from game 1 they have gotten shit goaltending and its reflected on the ice.

There ain’t going to be any goalie available in the summer that isn’t available now so you just punt on a playoff run because there is no way in hell even if ruff is fired they bring back Vitek so they will have a new starting goalie
There could be goalies available in the summer who aren't available now.

I agree with everything else. In a normal year Vitek's playoffs last year get him exiled from the team. But Blackwood was already on deck for the exiling off the team. They also gave Blackwood three strikes, because he had a much higher upside than Vitek and was a homegrown goalie, who was looked at as potentially being a long term starting goalie here.

Vitek's only gonna get two strikes. Strike one was last year's playoffs. Strike two is what's happening this year. He would have to have his best 30 games as a Devil if not his best 30 game stretch in the NHL just to finish this season with respectable numbers.

I'm not sure what some of your guys obsession is with going out and trading for players that are going to cost us a ton of assets and cap space. Luke and Nemec are going to need raises and they aren't
Huh? I'm just making a general point. The Devils have largely not controlled play this season and have had to scratch and claw for their wins all season. Constantly playing from behind and defending because you don't have possession...that kind of stuff is gonna lead to guys getting hurt.
That's on Lindy. They are still sitting in a playoff spot right now. They are facing adversity they didn't face last season when it comes to injuries. It's hard to win games when your goaltending is way below average most games.

This is where all these points blown to cream of the crap teams are going to kill us, now that we have a killer schedule and guys missing time

Oddly VV has a decent record. Daws effort tonight was good all things considered.
Vitek's good record is a bigger sham than Marty's record in 13-14. It's a better record than 13-14 Brodeur, despite even worse. Even adjusted for era.

By the way, I remember when 13-14 Marty looked like the biggest joke and needed to hang them up, but even broken down 41 year old Brodeur was better than current Vitek.

Vitek this year is like 18-19 and 19-20 Cory Schneider that couldn't buy a win. Only without the 20 game .920% stretch to end the season for Cory in 18-19 lol.

Yeah you left it out there all right, for twenty f***ing minutes

That's why I would have rather lost this shit fest 5-2 than bringing it to within one before the empty netter.

Now everybody feels better about themselves and they don't really think this was up there with the Detroit game for worst performance of the season.

For as shitty as they played, they did score 4 tonight. There is enough talent to still be able to white knuckle games if they can get saves. And my guess is some players will be back.

The goalie option have been discussed as nauseum. They don’t need to get a great goalie, just go out and get a guy having a good year.
What team is trading a goalie who's having a good year? The price on these guys right now is astronomical. Fitz isn't getting anybody who's going to make a difference unless he gives up the farm...which he shouldn't do.

The reality is that we are stuck with average goalies...whether that's Vitek or Shmid Daws or some new guy they bring in. The smart thing to do is shore up the D and institute a proper DZ and breakout scheme. Otherwise whoever is in net is just going to continue to get wildly exposed and likely fail.

People just can't seem to accept the fact that this team has to adjust to having goaltenders who aren't going to bail them out consistently, not the other way around.

I felt the same way about the Columbus third period in the 2-1 loss

That’s on Fitz if he doesn’t want to pull the trigger now and wait til the summer and hope a legit top goalie will be available more power to him. If there isn’t and he panics and gets another teams version of Vitek (an average goalie Stat wise unproven work horse) and that blows up? Then he just lost himself a job. Cant punt on a playoff appearance and then run it back almost with the same question mark in goal.

This team isn't ready to make trades involving future pieces. Run it with what we've got and see where the chips fall. Injury plagued season with a regression from just about everyone. Stay the course.
That’s fine but just realize this is their window two elc with two team friendly long term cornerstones. Bratt Timo similar friendly too. So you keep staying the course when do you try and make the next step

I don't think getting another Vitek goalie is a big deal. I think the current Vitek probably would have still been serviceable if not for his nervous breakdown that was last year's playoffs.

Goalie coach needs to be fired tomorrow. All these injuries have nothing to do with him and can't save his job like they can for everybody else. Just get an interim goalie coach or a committee of goalie coaches to ride out the rest of the year and see who is available in the offseason, who maybe isn't available right now.

Rogalski just being allowed to come to work everyday is a certifiable CRIME at this point.

Next year, they're not going to do anything. Jacks going to be out a while I'd bet, who knows with Palat, Siegenthaler will miss the next probably month and half or two. Meier seems to be made of balsa wood. It's just not smart to do anything "splashy" this year.
