Great point. There is certainly value in practicing and learning from Stevens. However how about further bettering yourself with playing time? He's the future. One of the 7 other guys, at a minimum, will not be here last year. Larsson does not hurt your team's chances (might actually help).

It's common sense, in my opinion. Play one of your top 6 defensman AND develop him for the future.

We are bascially agreeing in different wording. I do agree he has to play to become better, however his development will not be stunted as drastically as others are making it out to be if he isnt playing

Larsson has played 61 games this season. We're in a tailspin and falling out of the playoffs so they have veterans playing.

It's not some huge ****ing problem like you guys are making it out to be. He is making big strides this year in his defensive play. Keep ranting over useless things.

However, bringing Josefson up was dumb.

had to check who was the poster. Thank you for being something different on these boards than the usual overthinking crap.

Larsson stating the obvious. Remember a week or two ago, he jumped into the high slot with the puck and completely flubbed any type of shot with mucho time?

“But, at the same time, I don’t have the same confidence with the puck right now and that’s probably one of the reasons I focus more of the defense."

I don't think we're ruining Larsson but it is annoying and stupid he is sitting. More like wasting Larsson.

Calling up Josefson to sit is pretty stupid as well, especially when Albany has a full schedule of games this weekend. Why not let him play and call him up Monday? or tomorrow?

Not like we're practicing in the meantime either..

We're going to go down in flames with the 'salty' vets and Albany retreads. Maybe Lou wakes up. Maybe he doesn't.

Larsson needs to take off the dress. What a pansy.

Pretty much. I'm personally not worried about his development, but the fact of the matter is he's a better player even at this stage of his career than we're icing. Harrold, Volchenkov, pick one I don't care. They should be sitting, not Larsson.

I'm past the point of being pissed off about Larsson continuously sitting. It is what it is. These games starting tonight are basically playoffs games for us. Larsson is pretty prone to some horrible turnovers and his speed isnt the greatest so a team like Toronto who has a solid offence and is very speedy could really burn him. Having said that I dont like Volchenkov at all. Harrold has some speed and can put up points so im not too angry over him. It's pretty obvious Pete wants the veterans in instead of the younger guys so whatever. That whole locker thing is pretty wacky though

I hope to god that Volchenkov is amnesty'd after this season. If his contract wasn't so horrifying I wouldnt have such an issue with him but its really awful. Hes pretty much just blocking Larsson and Gelinas at this point

With the season on the brink, I'd rather see the best 6 defensemen in the lineup each night, rather than giving a nod to veterans just for the sake of them being veterans. But whatever, I'm sure they know what they're doing. Right??? :help:

Funny stuff. Larsson is better than all our vets suddenly. He would truly be shattered if he had to take their shifts against the top lines, on the pk and in the D zone faceoffs all the time.

Coaches know this but armchair HF knows better.

If he was the best D out there like everyone thinks, he would be on the top pairing and never sitting. No coach, no GM, would allow this to happen if it were true.

There's plenty of valid complaints to make about this season, but the ruining of Larsson and claiming he's better than all the vets is tinfoil hat material.

At least Volconekov isn't playing. I could easily see him getting burned by the likes of Mark Fraser tonight!

If he's not good enough to be on the team then he should be in the minors playing top pairing minutes and #1 pp and pk down there. Either that or he plays here. Sitting him does nothing but waste what could be useful development time. It's brutal brutal management of a young player and it pisses people off.
