I think it's fair to say that Vitek won the job but who the F knows with Ruff and his thought process at this point?
Ruff’s thought process will be he will pick the goalie who will win games.

The only thing I worry about with Ruff is that he ride a hot goalie into oblivion, not that he would play the worse one.

I think hell ride the hot goalie all season but subbing out every 2-3 games, even if all wins, shouldnt be hard nor a problem for either tender considering they understand that, if Bernier was healthy, there is three potential starters on this team lol

If one has an issue with that please make it known so we can get some value for them since, if we have the year I think we will, well be losing Severson and Graves in the offseason for nada. Someone always needs a goalie at some point

St Petersburg
after this game. If we are talking about spot players deserved
Jack, Palat, Holtz,
Yegor, Jesper, Dawson,
Haula, Wood, Tatar

I liked Bastian game
Is Nico healthy?
Did Fabian deserved lineup spot? If Nico isn`t healthy - than Zett and Mcleod.
Boqvist made some entries, but other than that - a lot of missed opportunities, doesn`t find himself in the right place in offensive zone.

I think Zett should play top-9 role to make impact. But where can we land him? If Nico isn`t healthy, than I prefer Tatar-Haula-Zetterlund and Wood-Mcleod-Bastian lines.

It was good to see Blackwood bounce back tonight from the last game because we are going to need him to be decent if we are going to have a winning season and be competitive for the playoffs. I even thought he made an adjustment tonight in his positioning by playing a bit more at the top of the crease and not so deep in the net and thus being at better angles to shooters and on tipped shots in front of him.

But sheez it sure is an adventure every time he handles the puck.

The hate on him is getting ridiculous.
well frankly he does more than win faceoffs and folks just wanna be in denial about it.
uses his body well, wins board battles, enters the zone with efficiency usually. He's undoubtedly a good defensive forward.
Still pissed as all hell that either he or the org has refused to stand up and take a stance on the whole thing

edit:
and he has outplayed boqvist so far

As I’ve stated any player playing the role he plays is going to catch a ton of flack. No matter how good they are in that role.

The off ice issues just make it that much easier to pile on.

From what ive read there is no defending the off ice. But ill still argue against posts that make no sense like the ones regarding McLeods game tonight.

He’s fine. He just doesn’t bring much to the team, I think most people think he could be replaced pretty easily.
He's a good 4th line center.

He's not a shutdown guy like John Madden (John Madden certainly wasn't a shutdown guy the last few years he was here either, despite getting used as such at times) or a poor man's Zajac.

He certainly is a bust for where he was picked, if we're being honest and his goal scoring (dis)ability is astonishingly bad and that might prove to be a detriment to his longevity in the NHL. He goes on ridiculously stupid goal droughts.

He's certainly better than Stephen Gionta and a f*** ton better than that embarrassment of a player that got 210 games here as the 4th line center in Rod Pelley. That guy was somehow Jacques Lemaire's viagra.

I think the ONE thing everyone here can agree on regarding goaltending is that we should be thankful that we did not play Jon Gillies for the entirety of our preseason finale, like one of the other 31 teams in the league did tonight. Where in real time he has allowed 4 goals in 19 shots.

Oh god, that was actually Arizona’s shots I was looking at. Gillies hasn’t even faced 19 shots.

It’s now 5 goals on 16 shots.

Is Vejmelka not allowed in the state of Idaho or something?

Looks like he’s on the bench. I thought they claimed Jonas Johansson on waivers from the Avalanche?

They were out-tanked last year, I guess they’re making damn sure they won’t be out-tanked this year.

Blackwood wasn't good in the Isles game but he was also hung out to dry behind a shit team. If the roles were reversed and Vanecek played that game we'd be having the opposite conversation about Blackwood being clearly ahead. At this point no one has established themselves and they should still be splitting for a while to really figure out how things go.

Rod “NYI Development Coach” Pelley? That Rod Pelley?

Still makes me laugh that Lou hired him.

Lemaire is still a Special Assignment Coach so they can reminisce about 2009-11. Rod can also catch up with Johnny Mac and they can reminisce about his 33 games as HC. Plus Rick Kowalsky down in Bridgeport was his head coach in the AHL for 4 years.

Nobody plasters up those colourful bar graphs when they don’t fit the narrative

Just like you didn't bring them up when they didn't fit yours. Holtz had 3 games with a positive CF%, and finished the preseason at a dead even 50%. But before tonight it was all well he hasn't scored. Tonight he scored so you're resorting to corsi.

Holtz CF % was like 40. Being an analytic based team do we like that or just ignore?

Nobody plasters up those colourful bar graphs when they don’t fit the narrative

If you mean Hockey Stat Cards, this is why…

Or you can have a weird conspiracy theory about this to go with your weird Holtz fixation.

You can also post any stats you like. (And lol on this being a “analytic based team”.)

I'd probably lean Vanecek for the Flyers but Blackwood looked fine as well besides that Islanders game on Thursday. Loved what I saw from the top 6 tonight. Mercer possibly being a bottom 6 player is absolutely absurd.
