Wow what a fun series' this will be as somebody who doesn't care about either team.

Hope it gets real nasty.

In our defense, we have very good centers, but these two teams are arguably the best 1-3 center corps left playing.

Draisaitl is a winger and I'm not getting out of bed for John Tavares in 2023. Who else is there?

Toronto and Edmonton are easily better then both down the middle, regardless of what you think about them.

Don't have to hope too hard, pretty sure nastiness is a guarantee!

Picked Rangers in 7 but this can go either way. I think it's going 6 or 7 for sure.

The Rangers are built for the playoffs, they proved it last year. I'd take the Rangers defense and goaltending over NJ any day, plus the Rangers coaching. Fox>Hamilton and it's not even close.

The Rangers didn’t have a winning record in the playoffs last year. They went 10-10. Had Pittsburgh not gone down to their 3rd string goalie they are probably out in 5 games. They got some key bounces and injuries to the other team’s goalies. It wasn’t as impressive as you make it.

As for this year, the Devils are the better 5-on-5 from top to bottom. It they stay disciplined they win the series. If they don’t and give the Rangers PP opportunities then that PP and Shisterkian will make it competitive. The tend to call the first couple games of the playoffs tight to send a message about the standard so that is certainly in the cards.

It's the third line that's the real sauce.

Filip Chytil and Erik Haula are really obnoxious 3C's.

There's 6, 7 teams still playing that they would be the 2C on.

There's one team still playing where Chytil would be their best center.

You can use your imagination on that.

I feel that the Devils have a better team but the Rangers goalie and power play as well as more playoff experience means I feel it could go either way.

I think the Devils are the team of the future, just not sure they are quite there just yet.

Highly offensive young teams tend to struggle come post season. How many heartbreaks did Tampa suffer before finally putting it together?

Tampa went to Game 7 of the Conference Final in their first playoff with Stamkos/Hedman.

Probably a dumb question but was thinking about this after reading the NYC thread - would the Rangers stay in a hotel in Newark for the away games, and vice versa for the Devils? Or would they go home after each game and travel as a team to the away games day of?

I think they do and never gave it thought before the late March game we just had. Their practice rink is in Westchester too.

Will this reignite the rivalry between the Rangers and Devils? The battle of the Hudson is back baby.

Depends if they live in Manhattan or the suburbs for the Rangers.

He'd be a 1C on CBJ and CHI

I like how so far, this thread has been gathering around and singing Kumbaya about how we also hate the Islanders, except instead of Kumbaya it's Raining Blood by Slayer.

Depends on team policy. Most teams stay in Manhattan when they travel into play NJ. But also some teams stay in a hotel regardless home or away. When Lou ran the Devils they always stayed in a hotel the night before a game regardless if they were home of not.
