It's not the end all, but here's Nemec vs Larsson from a purely developmental production standpoint.

Larsson and Nemec aren't remotely similar in their production profiles or offensive capabilities, so the comparisons should start and end with the fact that they try to slow the game down and they aren't burners as skaters.

If you followed Nemec leading up to the draft, this is the way he plays. Even Fitz said "he plays the game like he's in a rocking chair" when they drafted him. He's just a very calm and calculated player. He'll learn the defensive side of things and he'll limit the turnovers over time with experience. He is 100 times more dynamic than Adam Larsson ever was and it's remotely close.
"I got the Adam Larsson vibe from him in his skating/urgency/pace last night."

Yeah but there’s an implication there. You could have said the Nik Lidstrom vibe or the Adam Fox vibe.
Any implication is simply created by your assumption. Nemec is miles better at the line than Larsson. There are concerns on how his will hold up against a heavy forcheck at the NHL level. He isn't making people miss like Fox.

Yep, Toronto doesn't have the best goal advantage and really struggled down the stretch so this maybe a closer series than one would expect.
Gonna try to make it to a Utica game. Saw them on the road 3 games at 3 different arenas. Gotta make the 3 hour trip to take in a game in their barn , which looks like a fun building too.

Posted this in the main forum thread (really meant to post it here lol). Looking at his numbers in his first four professional seasons:

He played 88 regular season games in the top Slovak league and scored just three goals, but the playoffs hit and he scores FIVE in 19 games and then comes to Utica to score a even dozen the following year.

His last 86 games with Nitra and Utica he has scored 17 goals and 36 assists (including this years playoffs.

This kid is good.

Next year will be fun, no way they send Nemec back to Utica. The kid is more than ready and is bigger than I thought when I went to watch them play. He ain't going to be getting pushed around that's for sure
Still a pretty good chance he spends time in Utica. But he will certainly be the first call up and very likely spend lots of time in the NHL and potentially earn a full-time spot at some point.

But right now we have 6 D coming back next year. Hamilton, Siegenthaler, Marino, Smith, Bahl, and Hughes. Unless we’re gonna carry 8 there’s likely only one spot left. I’d imagine they’ll either want to resign say Graves or bring a veteran guy in rather than relying on Hughes and Nemec holding things down as rookies and Vilen, and maybe Walsh and a Wotherspoon as AHL depth if we have injuries. Would much rather something like this hypothetically:

Siegenthaler-Hamilton
Graves-Marino
Bahl-Hughes
Smith
Call-ups:
Nemec
Wotherspoon
Walsh
Vilen

Odds are there will be at least one dman out for a large portion of, if not the majority of the season and Nemec will still spend lots of time in the NHL. We actually got really lucky injury wise this year and our #8 played 10 games before being traded. I’d bet that as the #8 even if he starts in the AHL Nemec will get at least 20 NHL games if he stays healthy.
