with the AHL regular season wrapping up i wanted to share my updated thoughts on the nemec vs jiricek debate, going over their seasons, talking about developmental progress ive seen, and looking at how things might wind up down the road. i usually mainly focus on undrafted prospects, so this was a fun project for me to evaluate progress over a number of years of watching them. hope everyone enjoys

As much as I would love for him to play at the WC, I think NJ needs to be 9 or 10 deep at defense especially if they make is through the first round.
I agree. Dumb question , would Vilen be considered an option if we get ravaged by injuries or is someone like Walsh a better option (for now) ? Is Vilen eligible to pla for NJ even? Im guessing no.

I highly doubt they'd consider Vilen. If we were down to our 10th guy it'd probably be Walsh if it's the offensive guys that went down and if not I'd bet on them going with Wotherspoon.

I like what Fitz has done for the most part. However, I didn't like the Palat acquisition when it was made, or better put, the money and the number of years he was given.
Unless he goes on a tear during the playoffs, that contract will be an albatross for years to come. Could impede us from re-signing Bratt.

Yeah, clearly his biggest mistake IMO. Though it's early, it's already looking pretty bad.

It’s real bad but it shouldn’t be an impediment to signing Bratt. We’ll still have the space to sign him. If anything it could help to prevent us from re-signing Tatar (please do what you have to to keep him) and it’ll present issues when we the young guys coming off their ELCs in the couple years

It was reported that Palat’s surgery would impair him for a while after happening. I’d wait until next year to make a judgement on Palat, he deserves the benefit of the doubt, but if he has similar results when fully healthy next year, then yeah.

Just a fantastic write up, people are doing themselves a disservice if they don’t read it. Great work, thanks for sharing this.

Don’t have to like the signing but there’s no way it impede’s the Bratt signing. We have the money to sign Bratt. It’s gonna come down how much Fitz think’s he’s worth as a player. Palat or no Palat doesn’t affect that.

Let’s just wait to see if Palat can put up points in this playoff run before we resume any discussion of the prospect in question for this thread.
