So...Nemec, I pray he turns out the way many here are saying.

'Cause at #2, he damn better turn into a Franchise D-man and not just an "okay defender".

We will see in the coming years how things shake out...

I think Nemec is skilled enough that he at the very least will be a good #3 .
That doesn’t sound sexy right now but it will fill a very important slot we need to be contenders.
I wish he was more in the mold of a Power or Seider but can’t complain with what was seen as arguably the best defenceman in the draft.
Adding some bruisers with our picks helps too though. I think it gives some great potentail for a good mix on the back end

Seems like his floor is practically a top-4 dman

So it feels safe to say he will be an instrumental player for us going forward. Its whether he meets his expectations and becomes a top-pair guy.

With how smart hes claimed to be, as well as being a great skater, I think its a good bet that he can become one for us. Maybe he isnt #2 in the draft bu career end but I think hell be a top pair guy

It's definitely possible he becomes a first pairing D-man. He certainly has the skills and attributes for it.

Were probably being unfair

Its probably closer to 'probably' than 'possibly' right?

I mean hes 2nd overall and was pre-ranked 4th. Odds are he becomes a top-pair dman and were just being cautious, arent we? Lol

Yes, of course. That's what I meant. I definitely believe he'll become a first pairing d-man.

I read this message in my head with the most sarcastic tone lol
No sarcasm intended there, I can assure you! ;) I really like Nemec's qualities. He has a really high floor, but his potential, based on skating, and awareness in both zones, has me really excited. He's a great, great prospect, and I honestly seem him really, really close to Luke in our D prospect rankings. What he has done in the pro level as a teenager (from 16 years old) is no small feat.

Nemec is the highest-floor defenseman in the 2022 class. His floor is literally "okay defender" at the NHL level. Players with this type of hockey IQ, compete and pedigree rarely "floor out" so to speak.

I'd say the low-end realistic expectation for Nemec would be Severson with less erratic defending. The high-end expectation is more along the lines of elite-puck moving and transitional 50+ point top-pairing guy who is very good defending and can be utilized in all situations.

Nemec is easily the most talented RD drafted by the New Jersey Devils in their entire history. I don't see this as a reason to be anything but optimistic.

Lets calm down and put some respect on Mark Fayne's name. He and Salvador willed us to a Stanley Cup Final

He actually was the best winger in the league this year and was absolutely the flames best winger too.
Nah, Tkachuk definitely brings a more well rounded game to the table. Best offensive wing? Pretty tough to argue that, and no argument against last year to be made, but not all around. Also, imo it takes more than 1 season to make you a top 5 W. Difference of opinion or interpretation. He's a beast either way.

oh so it wasn't your response. It must've been aliens. Got it.
Lol.... If you agree Gaudreau is top 5 good for you. I dont. 1 big season doesn't make you a top 5 wing in my book. Top 5 last year? Ok. Inarguable. Top 5 overall? I disagree. I wasn't "proven wrong" because someone posted rankings that agree with his opinion. I really respect ZBJs opinions, but I disagree with this one. But thanks for adding your insight to a conversation that had nothing to do with you. Truly illuminating.
