17 year old defenseman yes, not any 17 year old ever. He had the second highest 16 year old season ever only behind Gaborik.

I used this website and it has Nemec listed as leader for all positions, including 16 and 17yos

Either way I had no idea his production was so good

Nemec himself thinks 2OA is too high for him

I don't know if what he said has been reported accurately, but assuming it is, I like the realistic outlook it reflects.

The worst attitude is when you have guys who slid a bit declaring that the teams who passed are idiots, and declaring themselves "steals". Being genuinely shocked at how high you went is better.

It was very very good. That's why most of the models based around NHL equivalencies list him as practically a lock to be an NHL player.

Don't judge it based on that. There was some weird shit going on. Even Savoie was way taller than her. I'm not sure why he (Nemec) was same height as her. I can tell you Nemec isn't shorter 5'9".

It's not about height, it is about girth and muscle mass when it comes to strong hockey players. Low center of gravity. Look at the Russian the Washington Capitals just drafted. Reminds me of Ovechkin, a beast.

He will likely be very positive and he liked Nemec too

Prob. He was super positive about the stillman pick

Great track record of what? Nico and both Hughes were pretty much chalk picks by the time of the draft. Bratt and Shara...okay, but McLeod and Stillman have been pretty bad whiffs to balance that out. Everything else is pretty much still a question mark at this point and it's not like his teams in Columbus were all that great either.

Yea let's just ignore how they got the 2017 #1 pick right, no biggie. I swear to God, if you say they should've picked Makar I will put you on ignore.

I see a lot of people in here trying to rationalize the pick yet leaving traces that they’re not satisfied. 😆

I’m an eye test guy, and I hate the pick.

Although I’m not a scout or a GM, I was high on Wright, Im just shocked.

I said nothing about Makar in my post. Nico was a chalk-ish pick, which I don't count as a plus or a minus. If you want to give them a little credit for picking him over Patrick okay but it's not like he would have been off the tier, it was a two-person tier and they picked the one who by the time of the draft was thought to be a marginally better pick anyway. It was also a lucky lotto ball that they were even in position to draft #1 anyway but let's ignore that too - it's hard for me to give any real credit when you're drafting at #1 regardless.

No I was up front about that.

but I’ve seen a lot of Wright and he was ranked higher by people who watch lots of Slovakian hockey. I guess nobody was interested in trading up. Hopefully Fitzgerald got it right.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Nemec can do at development camp. I'm hoping he will dispel my remaining doubts with a strong showing.

Does he immediately become our second best defense prospect after Luke Hughes?
