The only silver lining in tonight's debacle :

Jack breaking out of his slump.

We need him to get going if we want to go far in the Playoffs.

I would easily blame the goaltending if it was actually their fault, 4 of the goals were because of the defense having their dick in their hands instead of paying attention

Dude....even @Bleedred correctly pointed out that Goals 2 and 3, Akira was a friggin' statue just standing there hoping for the puck to hit him instead of making his usual big-time saves.

He failed tonight.

It happens.

It won't be the first time and it won't be the last.

But he's still a good young goaltender who will bounce back from this.


I would love for him to get the Sens tomorrow to right his own ship.

Doubt we’ll see Meier on the right side. That being said, at this point I wouldn’t hate the first idea, but swapping Meier/Mercer

I like Bleed but when did he become the complete goalie whisperer and his word meant everything? 2 of the goals were, once again, guys walking completely in on him to go bar down + Quinn making an absurd pass to Cozens from the boards. This just screams self entitlement the past 2 pages of wanting desperately to clinch tonight, they'll have another chance at it tomorrow unless the Rags beat Florida.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with this guy.

I know the Devils paid big money for him but if he isn't producing offensively, he's an albatross contract of the highest-order as his Defense hasn't been all that sharp this season (though he's had solid defensive games here and there).

I've disagreed with @Bleedred before on goalies, he's always understood my point of view in regards to the position of goaltending. It's not a cut and dry science you're making it out to be. Like I said, do you want saves on the Tage and Quinn goals tonight? Yes, but I'm not losing over sleep or crying about them in a game where they were 9 total goals scored lol

Hamilton has 6 points in his last 10 games. He had 61 points in his previous 62. He'll be okay.

Hes an easy target because of his foot speed which causes a wtf moment from time to time. Overall He does fine defensively and produces.

I don't want to be a told you so, but I said at the beginning of the season that if the Devild stayed with Blackwood they would be in trouble and that goaltending would be a problem. Lately goaltending is just that. This is not Fitz's fault he got a backup who has bailed out the Devils but now he needs some rest and isn't getting enough. The season isn't over and he is beyond his ever-game limit. The playoffs are ahead. This is an ownership problem created by them and their previous GM. Shero. Scoring 4 goals for should be enough but being tired and worn down with nagging soreness at the end of a season is not what is need to go further. Venecek must get some time off. They are losing anyways. I know you get my point. You don't have to be a hockey genius to understand this.

Well that's good at least 'cause as I stated to FlockaFlame('cause Zacha isn't on the team anymore), Devils signed Dougie moreso to score goals 'cause that's what he does best.

Playing Defense is not one of his strong suits, though he's passable but not what he's getting paid Big Bucks for.

This doesn’t make sense.

Both Schmid and Vanecek have above league average Save percentages. They are goalies that a good team can win with. Thus replacing Balckwood.

So, management did a good job with helping this issue via the draft with Schmid and Daws, and via low cost trade for Vitek.

Idk how you can have a problem with this.

DOUGLAS has the tendency to do that. Just like any other high producing player who plays the puck a lot. Jack has those moments, Bratt, other teams great defensemen and forwards. It ebbs and flows for each player
