Also it got lost in the shit effort but Nico told Dahlin to "Drop the gloves you f***ing p***y"

Some bad language from our Swiss King

I’m jumping in on the end of this thread, despite knowing it would be salt mine, in hopes some hero had posted a gif of Nico saying this.

Make my dream come true someone, please lol.

Just watched. Well, tough one. Horrific defensive mistakes, poor reads on the backcheck, and minor hockey mistake-worthy lack of shoulder checking. Rough look from Graves on several plays.

On the bright side, another game today! And maybe this one gets Jack back going en fuego.

And please Ruff...good grief. Leave Jack and Bratt together. Let 'em cook!

You left out horrible goaltending by schmeeed to basically lose the game on the first few shots… doesn’t excuse the rest of the awful play but he sucked

I mean he got burnt pretty bad but all 3 Sabres goals were nice shots. 2 of them of the iron and in. Really poor start defensivley. People don't realize Buffalo is a top 5 offensive team. Cozens , Quinn , Thompson scored their first 3 goals. None of them were weak. It is what it is.

"Best" defensive pair Marino-Graves had a really dark night. It's not just the Graves gap on the second Tuch goal, but the on the Thompson goal Marino could not have made a worse play. Season will not end well if this defensive pair starts doing mistakes like this.

I think Boqvist looks good, but cooled off on the production. Not sure if its the line juggling that Ruff has been doing recently, but he looks good in the middle six.

He's got better speed than most of the team (minus Hughes, Wood). He's got hands closer to Bratt/Hughes direction, and he's got decent edgework (not Bratt-like, but decent). Shot remains to be seen, a lot of his goals this season have been in tight, with a few at the slot.

Production wise, he seems to be an improved version of Josefson. Skill-wise, he is much better though.

Hoping he blasts off next season, i feel he's at the edge of becoming a pretty good NHLer.

Also, Sharangovich is heating up, funny to say but he looks good on the 4th line, or rather, the 4th line looks so much better with him and Foote there.

Schmid’s first game this year was that incredible relief appearance against Ottawa. Then he stopped 25/26 against them the next week. Don’t know if they put any stock into stuff like that though.

no idea why were talking about goaltending, those were basically 3 breakaways all against dangerous scorers the team hung him out to dry.

ruff was right, they weren’t ready to play it was a coaching problem. should have had a morning skate to get more prepared imo

I surprise myself at these little moments over the course of the season where he almost looks like the best player on the team. His blend of the dirty work, skill and speed is only matched by nico. I really like him with Tatar because they both are really good at coming away with the puck on the boards. Barring some kind of big drop off, he should be given a contract with term and firmly planted in the middle 6 on this team for a while

The game has just clearly passed you by. You don’t understand the modern NHL, that much is very clear. Like, do you even listen to actual opposing coaches talk about our team? “Easy to play against” isn’t what they have to say.

Also LOL@ saying we have a poor defensive team while hyping up the Rangers. Cmon coach, you need to break down the film.

Here’s your cut-up brah. Easy peasy

He does a remarkable job of gaining the offensive zone by the blue line, protecting the puck with his body, and creating time and space to find an open man.

No clue what this has to do with "easy to play against" overall, we're not an easy team to play against which is why Tampa had to clutch and grab so much against us (and got away with it due to the league's garbage officiating). Obviously this play and a few others last night were terrible breakdowns where the team didn't apply the puck pressure we usually do.

We’re top 5 in goals against per game (.02 away from top 3) with mediocre goaltending. An excellent defensive team. Again, you don’t quite understand the way the game is played anymore.
Most teams in the league hate playing against us because most of them can't skate with us. When we're on our game we are all over the opposing team and they have zero time and space.

Funny checking this message board from my tablet (which doesn't have my password to sign in) - and seeing many of the posters I hadn't seen in years.

There are really people blaming Schmid and Vitek for last night's debacle?
Three of the five goals scored by players from within 15 feet of the net unimpeded?

Including one of the NHL's leading scorers?

Had it not been for Vitek in the third, Buffalo might have put up as many goals as some of those Big 10 teams in the college tournament.

Game was a stinker and way too many players on the wrong side of the puck.

Hopefully, as they did last week in Florida, the team makes the appropriate adjustments tonight.

But this pattern is a bit disconcerting coming down the stretch.

“Break down the film! Lolz!”
*breaks down film, incredibly easy goal*
“Yeah well here’s stats from Oct/Nov/Dec showing we’re great!”

It’s undeniably soft defensive zone coverage, something we’ve seen for 3 years. It’s going to continue to burn them as the games continue to get tougher.

Most teams in the league hate playing against us because most of them can't skate with us. When we're on our game we are all over the opposing team and they have zero time and space.
And it’s all for naught if we’re going to play that bad in the nz/dz!

Agreed. Fine balancing act between rest/recovery and game preparation (particularly with three games in four days).

Thankfully Buffalo isn't part of the playoff picture but hopefully the game serves as a teaching moment.

Just hope that because he scored two goals Jack doesn't overlook the earlier parts of the game and make adjustments.

He wasn't the only forward floating in space during the transitions but was very noticeable.

I am not going to re-hash arguments (My arguments, which are more fact than excuses) already made.

I don't feel like it.

Hope the Devils clinch tonight 'cause that's all that matters right now.

(oh and Good Morning.)
