they're 1 point off the league lead.

My god. You guys need to take a walk.
Basically. Extended run of bad play, when we were talking about "controlling play" a few days ago. Metrics are WAYYYY in our favour, especially 5on5. We really really didn't play a bad game.

Yeah this is why I can’t blame the refs stupidity, we had more than enough chances tonight and gave it away
I don’t think we gave away anything. We were the better team, the averages will assert themselves though. We needed to finish our chances more plus Igor outplayed Vitek, despite not having his best game himself.

It's 7 games. He's not going to keep up what he's doing.

Last year in 6 games he was an .833 goalie. I have no idea what Schmid is, but that's a pretty wide range for what he could be.
good call, we should wait until he cools off before we throw him in there

More to the point now that the Devils are a win now team you do not put it all on a 21-year old rookie unless you’re expecting this kid to be Marty 2.0

Not at all to me. We played a great third period. Totally controlled the play and had our chances. Getting that point is huge. A year ago we lose that game in regulation. That 3d was the 3d of a mature playoff team.

We needed to finish more of our chances in that game. We had so many great looks. That to me was the name of the game.
Yeah well getting a 4th against Shesterkin isn’t something that many teams are going to be pull off. Scoring goals and finishing really hasn’t been this teams problem.

I believe he did have pretty good stats through his first 5-6 games (probably not quite as good though?) and even through 10-ish games or so (I'll have to check) but it was all downhill after that.

Hey, I'm ALL for keeping Schmid up until he gives us reasons (and not just one reason) not to. Everybody knows my position here.
So when Blackwood returns the team should keep Schmid and get rid of Vanacek to make room for Blackwood? Is that what you are offering as a solution? It makes a lot of sense.

Division lead shrinking quickly before our eyes. Like I’ve said for the past week, this team has been in an extended run of bad play.

This guy gets it. I’ve been telling all of you this for the better part of 3 weeks. The wheels are falling off before our eyes. The breakdowns are back in spectacular fashion and again we got bullied by the Broadway Blueshirts. You can see why they went to the ECF while we were out golfing and taking selfies. I’m sick of this shit.

When you were doing this a month ago, I clearly thought it was ball busting and not serious.

You're actually serious about this? Why because the guy was solid (never great) THREE YEARS AGO?

Look up all save percentages through February 20th of 2021 with a minimum of 15 games played. The only full time NHL goalie you'll find under Blackwood in that period is Joonas Korpisalo.

The rest of the list are AHL guys that were called up and even some old guys that have since retired (Miller, McElhinney) since that date.

Blackwood is shot to shit. You have no argument other than FAITH ALONE!

That's all you've got here.

The process of belief is literally all you have here. And maybe Faith in God. And All Good Soldiers should.

Blackwood isn't the Answer.

So maybe one day these thoughts can Cease and you can Come Join Us in reality.

@Its Always Sundstrom How did I do with the Bad Religion references?

I agree we looked good for a lot of 3rd but something feels off. Their confidence looks more like last season in finishing again.

I know last years team would flatly give up this game but.... Getting frustrating. We spoiled with amazing early run but hope this new trend goes by the wayside...

They did absolutely nothing in OT. Skated in circles and jerked off then turned the puck over in the most braindead way.

I’d rather eat an asbestos pizza than lose to the islanders and rangers, especially in the ways we did.

We dominated. Not worried at all. If we have a great powerplay (which we should) then we are easily the best team in the league.

i know our expectations are through the roof, but will gladly take 3 out of 4 points against the rangers at home.

we need to start either winning games in reg or losing in OT. not losing in regulation is kinda as good as a win for what this game turned into.

can someone find our record against the metro so far? is it 4-2-1?

We did outplay them most of the game, but our breakdowns were horrendous. Rags had wide open nets on two of the goals. It’ll happen to a young team but it’s frustrating as hell

Not sure why people are saying it should have been 4-1. Penalty shots are not automatic goals.

But that subsequent penalty call against was terrible, which lead to the goal and center ice faceoff. It should have never been 3-3 at that time in the game.

We don’t have a great pp. ours is pretty mid and can’t finish. And our defense is coming crashing down to earth.

Intellectually I know the Devils' current level of play is not that much different than it was a few weeks ago when the team could seemingly do no wrong.

But emotionally, it's frustrating to blow leads. And in such a dramatic fashion too, with awful goals within 7 seconds of each other. I'd like to see them close out more games like this, but that's the way it bounces sometimes.

It just sucks.

What a shame that should have been 4-1 with a converted penalty shot and game over. Instead they had a bs penalty call against them and then a brain fart on the tying goal. Oh well. Take the 1 point and move on and get 2 tomorrow.
IIRC, Jack kind of sucks in the shootout. I wasn’t expecting him to bury the penalty shot.
