Bleedred, I am not going to waste my time watching a rerun of a Devils 5-2 loss so I can repeat what you said about the goaltending. So I accept your opinion.

I feel sorry for the 16,500+ Devils fans that paid hard earned money and their time to go to Newark and watch this Schitt product on the Ice doing what they have been doing for 6 or 7 years under this ownership.

Run Miles Wood it isn't going to get any better. Forgot you are under contract. How about a sit in next game.

The average goalie shows up and in his very first game with the team whose previous 9 goalies all looked like shit, against an average opponent coming off a back to back, just so happens to have an epically horrific game…just another crazy coincidence. Definitely not indicative of anything other than the goaltending. Can’t be.

Some observations from the game:

- Our defenseman’s tendency to hold onto the puck too long to try and make the nice play is infuriating. Severson doing this led to the 3rd goal. We need more flips, off the glass, and hard rim plays

- Our forwards are constantly flying the zone which when the above happens leaves no supper to clean up any mistakes. This happened on the 5th goal where Hughes and either Bratt or Sharangovich were at the red line as our dman was farting around with the puck

- Our puck battle win percentage has to be like 30%. We are so weak on the puck. Forwards and defenseman both. This creates large problems when we don’t break out cleanly as we can’t win the puck back.

- Four lefties on the PP doesn’t work. Please stop doing it

- Vanecek is at fault for goal 1 and goal 3. The others I can’t blame him for

- No one is competing hard enough, almost no one is finishing their checks, almost no one is back checking like they’re in a bag skate

Don’t think that’s the solution.

New coach seems like the obvious move but that might take a couple more shitty games to happen.

I think Ruff has only a few games to right this. Maybe 2. If we don’t beat Anaheim and/or the Isles I bet he’s gone. An O - 4 start or period of play where we are falling that far or more below 500 quickly during their first month should do it.

Fitz didn't bring in Blackwood. One game with Vitek and it is Fitz' fault? After 6-7 years of losing?

Problems go a lot higher than the GM.

Doubt it was the GM's decision to do things like sign Hamilton, Hischier, or Hughes to outrageous contracts? Or make Hischier a team captain in his early 20's? During a season in which he had yet to play a game?

And I highly doubt Lindy Ruff had much say in the style of play or which players received ice time.

Too many players have either stagnated or continued to make the same mistakes with no consequences.

The Flyers sent a player down after one game because he couldn't keep up Thursday night.

By contrast the Devils played basically the same lineup as Thursday night, sitting one of the players who played relatively well compared to the rest of the team.
Then despite the fact that the Haula-Wood line scored the team's only goal the Hughes and Bratt circus played nearly half the third period; with the same usual results.

But it's purely coincidence that the team's record is so much worse when they see that much ice time.

We still need to het harder to play against. Who are team scared of off our team when we are on the forecheck? Tatar ? Would be nice to have someone that has the other teams D take some pause before they go after the pick for fear of getting hit. Who do we have that does that ? No one is the answer. Watch other teams play. We are by far one of the easiest teams in the league to play against. Zero physicality. I’d like to see Okhotiuk brought up and … umm. shit. That’s about all we have , with no forwards . Im sick of being pushed off the puck and lose pick battles more often than not.
